WESTS TIGERS = LOYALTY

In all honesty I'd rather win one competition which we did in 2005 than appear in every final series and win none.

The Tigers were a rabble in the beginning. The best thing that ever happened to the club was the removal of Terry Lamb. Terry Lamb set the development of the Wests Tigers back at least five years. The club had become a laughing stock which struggled with recruitment and sponsorship.

Let's be grateful that we have one premiership already in the bank and a squad capable of winning another in the not too distant future.

See your point but to win the premiership you have to make the Semis . 2009 perfect example we would of been a big chance if we had made the Semis . See my point

i can remember when penriff offered sirro a motza to go to the mountains which would have made him one the top paid players in the game at the time but he stayed at the tigers for reportedly less dough. money ain't everything !!

The days of player loyalty are just about done- and that's because the clubs in the most part don't show any loyalty to their players.
I would say the WestsTigers (and Balmain before them) have always been one of the best ( if not THE best ) club for looking after it's long term players.
Coaches have different loyalties- otherwise Sheens would be at Penrith where he started as a player and coach.
A player can be injured and not perform for an entire season and be kept on - if a coach is having a bad run then say goodbye (a la Elliott)
One thing I will say about Sheens - he sure knows how to manipulate a deal .
Let's hope he can manipulate us another premiership somehow.

I applaud the decision.
Another building brick is added to the solid platform this club is building towards the future.

Well done to all concerned :supporter:

hey Alf and what if my aunty suddenly grows testicles do i call her my uncle? Really get a life!

Well, thats a strange family you live in thats for sure.

Anyway, Don't for a second think its all about loyalty. Timbo has done the smart thing and driven up his wages. Everyone wins, especially Timbo

Well it may of driven up his contract price and why not.

If its not loyalty its money and he could have gone to penrith for alot more. 😕

All our late 80s team knocked back much bigger offers to stay at balmain.

Players try to stay loyal and so do most clubs but the salary cap makes it very difficult to do.

He could have gone tp Penrith for more money but with their playing roster and no miracle he would have been out the door by the end of next year with no job offers.
Penrith aren't famous for tolerating non - performing coaches ( unlike us in previous years) and would have had a get out clause in their contract.
IMO nobody is going to offer that much money unless there is some performance clause.
Except us

How do we know that the Tigers have not increased their offer to match Penriths offer ???Suppose we will never know !!

Good luck to tim , i am glad we kept him & the big thing is there were no better coachesw around. Brown he would be great face slapping, Stuart you are kidding bash & barge no thanks we have the best coach available.

It was reported today, I think in the telecrap, that it is a 1.3million dollar deal over 3 years, if that's the case he didnt get any extra cash just an extra year on the contract and you'll probably find that it is still incentive based with the 2 year option as coaching director.

2 finals series in 8 years and u guys are happy? :roll

No, not really, but what are the realistic alternatives? Who are the AVAILABLE coaches that may achieve more for the Tigers? Not many I can think of.

are u for real?? Folkes is the reason we made the finals last year it wasnt shees so why couldnt he be a good enough replacement?

Brown is also a very good coach
gentle and jones could also get the job done better than sheens imo cause they wouldnt be playing moltzen at fb and im sure folkes would have at least 2 props on the bench at all time

if you love seeing the same group of players picked everyweek no matter how bad there form is than fine do it but im done supporting this club after 23 years

No you should ask yourself xpac…..so you know for sure it was folkes why we made it ah.haha your funny

Who says brown is a good coach.....how many grand finals has he won.

Folkes is having some input into the team selections.

anyway suk it up hes here for 3 more years after this and most people are glad.

Penrith couldn't afford the deal they put on the table. Sheens did his sums.

That wasn't the only thing that came into it of course.

Care to expand on your theory? I doubt you will.
Sounds interesting though.
