Wests Tigers Named for rep Round

Cartwright is quality, yes he misses tackles but he defends on the fringes and not up the guts, also he is young and will take time to learn the reads on the fringes

So why do people on this forum give brooks and Moses crap for missing tackles? They are also young and defend on the fringes

I'm not saying Cartwright isn't quality, I said earlier he is a lethal attacking weapon but the point I'm making is that we have young guys in our squad that are around the same age as Cartwright and have some deficiencies in their game just like Cartwright does but our players cop a bashing from some people on this forum while Cartwright is hailed to be this superstar

It's a fair point. I still think Curtis, Brooks and Moses can turn into really good players. The point is though that they need to kick on. Cartwright appears to already be kicking on.

That's 34 missed tackles, to put that into perspective brooks has 38 and Moses 33 missed tackles so far this year

I'll just add some more perspective to that - Cartwright has made a total of 252 tackles and missed 34\. In the game where he missed 8 tackles (vs the Roosters) he made 45\. They ran a lot of traffic at him to gas him out and it worked. He's still missing too many for a 2nd rower and it's an area of his game he'll have to work on, as well as his 80 minute fitness. He also has a bit of a tendency to drop off tackles when other defenders come in, which rightly gets clocked up as a missed tackle. Fittler was commenting on it in City v Country yesterday and said he told him to commit 100% when he goes in on a tackle. He looked pretty solid defensively yesterday and only missed 2 tackles (making 28). His defensive problems might keep him out of Origin this year but they are not at the level of Brooks or Moses.

Moses has made 127 tackles and missed 33 this season. Brooks has made 101 and missed 38\. They both have technique problems, although in fairness to them both they are also suffering from a lack of support in our team.
