Wests Tigers Named for rep Round

They always put randoms in the City v Country sides. That's why it would be a shame to axe it, because although clubs grumble, it's as close to rep as some of these dudes will ever get.

It's just reward for a bloke like Sarge who lacks true footballing ability but gives 100% every game, trains hard and rarely gets injured. I was super dismissive of the guy when he got a run in grade, but frankly he is slowly improving with every match and I can barely say that about any of our other players.

If he can start making dominant tackles and get some more thrust in his hit-ups, who knows where he can go. And I remember seeing blokes like Tedesco getting picked for random rep jerseys like Italy World Cup and come back better players for the experience. That's when Tedesco really turned the corner, playing centres in that competition.

Naiqama out for Fiji…hair strain...

No Fro no go? The NRL has to get serious about this stuff.

Nah…just me being silly...Hammy strain I believe...

He was in the National Anthem huddle...which was quite stirring

Felise went well earlier but limped off injured late in the junior roos win.

Yeah I didn't think it was really hair related. My second sentence was more re the rash of "injuries" leading to withdrawals.

Griffin has played the whole 60 minutes so far for PNG and while he wasn;t spectacular in the first half he was solid. His energy level went right up at about the 50th minute and he's been really good since then, especially in defence.

He offers far more than Halatau, he should have a had a run in the NRL by now, but alas no one gets dropped 😕

Griffin had a good game
Was guttered Kev wasn't playing, he would have offered so much more than I saw A-killa offer tonight
Even Koro would have put Uate to shame.

Simona was NOT good, the only positive was he walked away injury free.
Hoping for the same from tomorrows game for the rest of the boys

Interesting comments from Paul Siro in NRL.Ccom

City coach Brad Fittler is so enamoured with Cartwright's ability that he brought him into the City camp as 18th man last year after just a dozen first grade games and said this week that he thought he should have been picked in the Australian team.

Sironen, who played 14 Origins for NSW, has been similarly impressed with his rise through the ranks and believes any risk would be worth the potential reward.

"He's hit that level now," Sironen told NRL.com when asked what he needed to do to become an Origin player.

"He had some raps on him last year and he's taken his game up to that next level. He's a game-changer and doing some really good stuff at the moment.

**"I kind of compare him with my young bloke Curtis when they were coming through and Bryce is allowed to get out and play a bit of footy.**

"To [Panthers coach] Anthony Griffin's credit he lets him use the footy and he can pop up both sides of the ruck. There's an offload if he pulls one out, he just has to be careful with his pass selection.

**"But he's got some football in him and it hasn't been** coached out of him and that's one good thing."

It's a funny one, Sirro comes up through the grades as a 5/8 so he does have some skills but Taylor wants simple mistake free football and takes the playmaking opportunities away from him. A bit of freedom on the edges would do our outside backs the world of good IMO.
