Warwick ready for Tigers' task ahead

New Wests Tigers recruitment manager Dave Warwick isn't shying away from the magnitude of the task ahead of the club in maintaining their young roster beyond the 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership season.
With the Tigers encompassing the Balmain and Western Suburbs districts, Warwick stressed the importance of tying up their best young juniors coming through the system.
Warwick's arrival is an integral factor in the Tigers' attempt to re-sign key quartet James Tedesco, Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses and club captain Aaron Woods.
Warwick brings 12 seasons of NRL experience to the Tigers after previous tenures at St George Illawarra and the Sea Eagles.
"There's a big catchment area there so we have to make sure we're retaining and looking after our best young players," Warwick told Wests Tigers TV.
"It's vital we don't lose those boys regardless if they're from the Balmain district or the Western Suburbs. There's a lot of work to be done but rest assure we'll work our way through it."
Warwick joins the Tigers after being approached by the club's new general manager of football, Kelly Egan.
"I'm not a dinosaur yet. But I had a year at the Dragons just previously which was wonderful. Things have been left in a good place there as far as I'm concerned," Warwick.
"Prior to that I had 11 seasons at the Manly Sea Eagles which involved recruitment through pathways, development and all those sort of components where we obviously had a lot of success."
Warwick also shared his first impressions of the Tigers, having only started his new role on Monday.
"I can see, being an outsider previously, after one day [on the job] that there's a good culture," Warwick said.
"The players here are buying into what the head coach wants which is terrific. They're all genuine type of boys who are training hard and that's something I'm keen to be involved with.
"There's plenty of upside."

Hopefully he has a silver tongue, we're going to need a convincing recruitment manager to paper over our currently glaring deficiencies on and off the field.
