Who do we play in the second row?
I like Seyfarth ! It looks like his lateral defence has been worked on , and he’s gotten stronger in contact so when he hits it sticks , so he’s not fallling off tackles .
As for in attack , we know he runs a good line , so he’s already got that awareness , which isn’t always natural for backrowers .
He can stand in tackles and find an offload .
He reminds me of Shaun Lane . Pretty much the same career path as well . Started as a middle , got moved to the edge out of necessity, and made a fist of it .
But he’s not dynamic , and he’s not flashy . But for me I don’t think we need flashy . We need someone who will hold down the edge , and provide enough in attack , so that when he runs his shape , the defence has to account for him.
But I see what the knock on him is , angry man , who is unreliable , and struggles at times through making metres after contact , and lacks dynamism:
I just think his positives out weigh his negatives .
And if Matamua takes a leap , and can honestly get some power into his legs so his running game becomes a threat , there’s every chance that could force Bird to the edge , which would solve the problem organically as well . Which means we can bring seyfarth off the bench . And yes I know bird is first choice lock . But sometimes these problems solve themselves .
And I know people arnt up for this one , but I thought Sukkar showed something . At the very least he looked reliable .
We just need someone , whoever it is , that when we are running shape , forces the sliding defence to hold just enough so that there’s that split second of time for the shape to expose the cracks .
Which is why I lean back to seyfarth . He’s going to see Fifita as a challenge , not a reason for an anxiety attack .

He is a very undervalued player with a good attitude in commitment. He will never be a world beater but will work his bum off trying to be a positive for the team

Listened to the last episode on the autobahn driving from Munster to Berlin. Good thing there are no speed limits while I was listening. I was getting stirred up. You guys make a really outstanding fan podcast.
Munster in Ireland or is that meant to be Munich?

Apparently there is a team in Berlin called the Berlin Blitzkreig….
