Over an hour of good clean Wests Tigers discussion. Bulldogs game, the future of the coach, and a look at the big two-part Chammas/SMH article... https://weststigerspodcast.com.au/wests-tigers-podcast-0124/

Left your worse for this one. Can’t agree with any of it. It’s time we broke through the culture of poor attitude by the players. Sacking the coach once again will just enforce this culture. Something has to change and it’s not the coach. Can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again and will be if we sack the coach once again. I’m more inclined to listen to Robbie Farah than our current crop of underachieving weak senior players, Madge is a good coach and an even better person.

So Laurie, Doueihi and Steffano don’t count. OK. Stop listening to the media who use the Wests Tigers to fill there coffers with their rubbish.

All signings of opportunity to play first grade because their paths had been blocked at the club they were at. I’m referring to established NRL players that also have options to go elsewhere. I agree that the media coverage can be very frustrating sometimes but the lack of recruitment has put us in a real tough spot for next year and although it doesn’t all fall on Madge, the coach is the figure head of the club. Players don’t sign to work under a ceo or head of football, they sign to play under a certain coach or with other star players. Madge hasn’t attracted any of these types of players to our club and only really attracted Ben Teo at Souths as well in terms of marque players.

This is the thing I hear about this we only sign rejects not wanted by other Clubs.. but 99% of players that move are either out of favour or are blocked by their current Club...

The challenge will be finding that mr 1%

When we get a strong and courageous leader I have no doubt they will need to make someone the highest paid player in the sport.

Matt Burton was probably the last available option.

Sack the coach again? We have sacked one coach since 2012. Multiple things can be wrong at once, our players were not good enough and didn't play with enough commitment, I 100% agree. At the same time there is a lack of structure and game plans that is fairly apparent to see. I have been worried about madge's ability to adapt for a while now.

I think we need to move tge coach on and look to move on the players over the next 18 months as well.

I agree with pretty much all of it, it was bang on. Madge has had three years and all he’s done is make everything worse, including the culture. His game plans are non existent, his use of the bench is awful and he’s got the attractiveness of Ebola to potential recruits.

Are established in the NRL, it’s as simple as that. Your coach is the face of the organization and we need someone different who can sell the club and change the narrative around the Tigers. Someone like Ciraldo would be perfect because he has a great reputation around the league.

Problems predate Madge.

But have got worse under his guidance.

It has got far worse since Chairman Lee started to flap his gums ad nauseum

Yeah I think Teddy was the last elite player that left their club without being blocked or out of favour.

Probably David Fifita would be the most recent.

It's a good question though - are the problems worse under Madge's guidance, or was he given possession of a boat that was already off course?

For example, speculatively, would Ivan Cleary have gotten better results year-on-year, had he stayed? Would the signings of Packer, Mbye and Reynolds yielded better value if Ivan had stayed on as their coach? Would Ivan have had much salary cap space to spend 2019-2021?

I find it hard to tell if Madge is the cause (or not helping) of Tigers performing worse over time (by ladder position) or whether he's just not been able to stop the rot (yet, or may never).

It is opinion and will never be proven but I do feel Cleary would have done better with those players than Madge was able to achieve.

Yeah but he got something from Matulino and Packer early on .....most of the juniors Cleary has at Penrith were developed before he got his grubby fingers on them ....

Many pushing Ivan's barrow need to remember bar Brian Smith ...Ivan has the most amount of games without a premiership
