Cowboys have confirmed that Robert Lui has been signed for 2012.Will this push JT out to 5/8 ?Also will this bring Tim Moltzen in as WT 1/2 back now that he is staying.Good times ahead…..

I remember the first time I saw Lui play in the NYC. He was at 6 and were playing Penrith IIRC.
In that game Lui took control from the kickoff, putting up pin-point bomb after pin-point bomb, pretty well toying the the Panthers backline as the Tigers shot away to a huge lead.

I remember thinking how good this kid would be in the future, how exciting it was to have such a good talent coming through. To be honest I thought he made grade a little too early, but he has no doubt found a place in the NRL. I also think he's a 6, not a 7\. Hopefully he'll get to show his stuff outside a good half.

Good luck Rob

Totally agree with everything there. Never seen a player dominate the U20s since Lui. You could tell he was just a cut above the rest and he made the most amazing plays look like a training run.

However for all his attacking skill, he lacks defence and off-field discipline.

I rate him higher than Ray Thompson… He could get a pretty solid partnership with Thurston. Will be interesting to see.

Ahhh, I could see this coming for a while now. The bloke showed real potential on field, but that couldn't be matched by his off-field behaviour. Good luck at the Cowboys Rob, hope you can pull together for your own sake

A player like Lui couldve been the difference for the Cowboys this year… While Thompson progressed, he isnt at NRL level yet.

While its pretty obvious we would need to let him go, I agree with T-Rexx. Its a pretty good deal for the Cowboys and I hope he doesnt get a Premiership Ring in 2012?!

Ink.

Your clutching at straws with that argument. Those two cases are nothing alike.

Not saying theyre alike, just saying saints fans probably feel similar….they lost out.
You win some, you lose some.
I see a bit of Karma here in a roundabout way.
Disappointing we invest what 4 - 5 years development in him all for nought.....he was just starting to come good too imo.
I agree they learn nothing, theyre not made to pay....they just have to move, this wont help him at all...[tongue in cheek]anyway lets pray cooper cronk stuffs up and has to be run outta town[/tongue in cheek]

Funny how this is all announced just a few days after the Moltzen saga is resolved

Well what does this all mean
Is Moltzen the new 7??
Is Miller the new 7 ??
Is Moltzen the new 1 ??
Is Brown the new 1

Why has the last 3-4 weeks at the Tigers seemed to be a soap opera with more changes and drama than all the clubs combined

You have to laugh

Lots of possible combinations. According to the media it seems the Tigers were prepared to give the Dragons Mitch Brown in return for Moltzen if the need arose. Plus he only resigned for one more season. I doubt Brown will be given any sort of permanent role in 2012, but I'd keep him around to take a wing spot from 2013 as I expect Lote and Utai won't be around then.

For 2012 I hope we see Moltzen at fullback and Miller given a solid crack at the 7.

A shame both parties had to end it this way, but given Lui's court matter it's understandable. In any event, the Tigers can now move on and decide between Moltzen and Miller for halfback duties for next season.

Im very relieved.
I think Lui has ability, but could not care less at this point in time, Im glad he wont be with us.

If Benji had made the admissions that Lui has, I'd have the same opinion, I just cant bring myself to look past it.

I think too often the bad behaviour of footballers is overstated and is nothing that most young blokes do (often regrettably), this situation is not the same it is a despicable act.

It's good to see all parties have agreed to it but i feel the people who are loosing out here are the WT fans.

He does wrong
We loose a potentially good halfback
He is allowed to sign with the
Cowgirls.

Lui gets a new life and start
Cowgirls get a good signing
WT are halfback short.

Just doesn't seem right.

If the allegations are to be proven, he shouldnt be allowed to play for the remaining of his contract.

I might be a little harsh. I Just think WT are getting the raw deal

How are we getting a raw deal? We CHOSE to release him. If we wanted to hold onto him then we wouldn't let him go in the first place.

The writing was on the wall for Lui when we went after Moltzen. I would be lying if I said I am sad he's gone.

I was right

if Lui wasnt going to be release Motlzen would of been allowed to go to the Dragons

You couldn't be more wrong…. No offense but if ur gonna toot ur own horn u may want to get the facts

Do I really need to answer that. ???

In case I do.

If Lui didn't do anything wrong he would be a tiger still. Him doing what he has supposedly done has left us short a half back. The tigers lose out. As ink said he was starting to shine. We now need to start a new combination with miller/moltz and benji. 3 years we have spent on Lui in halves building that combo. Now all gone.
