Wests Tigers set to part ways with Mick Potter ??

Give the guy a break, Roman was'nt built in a day, look at the injury toll, blocker is right not even Wayne Bennett could change where we are, the club nears a clean out and potter is the man to steer the ship, same thing Brian Smith done at knights, roosters , and no one is calling for Ricky head, loyalty towards our coach is important

He inherited Sheens squad and staff and has been hammered by injuries. We are currently 1 win behind a Broncos team that has 4 players in the best Origin team in history. If we appoint a new Coach now for 2014 he will inherit Potters squad. That Coach would need 2 seasons, so give Potter that opportunity. If its Potters "people skills" maybe he doesnt stroke egos like the previous guy.

Yes but our injured players were playing rubbish before they got injured. And it was only then after they got injured that Simona and Nofo got a chance.

We have been awful all year.

I agree with tigersmurf's 6 points and insaneinks assessment. I'm a Potter supporter and have supported his decisions including the Benji benching. I firmly believe he needs his time to settle a fit side and get them playing to his game plan. I think sacking Potter would be ludicrous and would damage the club's reputation and ability to attract class personnel for years to come. Surely the board cannot be that blind and stupid.

Just a red herring; what's the chance someone on the board etc. has put the rumour out that Mick's contract is under threat as a smoke screen to cover sacking other more popular (Board mates) coaching staff and save face for those board members? I.E. "everyone is being reviewed equitably" etc etc, when in fact the decisions re the others have already been made.

PS If a petition is to be organised to support Mick Potter, it should be done before he is sacked. I will sign it.

the board is out of their mind if they think it's a good idea to be forking out money for 3 coaches next year…... and if that does happen I won't be renewing my membership. Nothing positive will happen unless the board is changed.

People looking for a petition to keep Potter. Here is one I found.

Hadley thinks Monday is Tuesday.

Exactly. I wouldn't believe anything that oxygen thief says.

Wtf . We are a disgrace.
How do they expect supporters to buy memberships for next year. And I bet the price will go up too. Our board should go.
If re-signing sheens was a mistake,They should go
If signing potter was a mistake, they should go.
If demolishing the leagues club was a mistake, they should go.
The board should pay for all these mistakes from their own pockets.

Demolishing Leagues club is a Balmain FC matter not WT or a decision by the WT board.

Actually there are board members on BOTH Balmain and Wests Tigers boards

I'm dead set filthy about this for various reasons. First, I don't believe Potter's performance warrants the sack. There have been exceptional circumstances behind the struggles this year. Potter has done tremendously well with the younger guys, who are improving under him. Second, there's the well trodden fact that the club is already paying Tim Sheens. Does this mean we'll paying 3 coaches next year? Absolutely absurd!

I also don't see what benefit bringing in someone else for 2014 does. Do we suffer another 12 months of structural building and the fluency problems that come with it? Then there's the club's reputation here. We are fast becoming a basket case which potentially will hurt our bottom line. Surely some solidarity is what's needed now??

However, even though I do believe the things I've said above. The facts are that our club, in the position it currently is financially. in terms of paying out coaches, I don't believe they'd be taking this stance unless they had to. The fact is we don't know the inner workings of this situation. I will also say this. The board has some serious questions to answer given Potter was their appointment. In other words. They've failed. They've some explaining to do. Shouldn't they be held accountable too?

This is desperate news. How can any coach be expected to do any better than Mick Potter has done.He has inherited a squad that can be described at best as disjointed and to find a top 8 position in such circumstances was unthinkable. In time he may or may not have been capable of getting us to finals football but should at least have been given the chance. This smacks of panic on behalf of the board and financially can only be a disaster.

No they will probably get matt parish , who aj has promised the club he will pay his first years wages …amateurs at their best. This mob

Probably very close to the truth. Problem is that from anyone that has been involved with Matt Parish over the last years were he has been an assistant coach they all think he has poor man management skills and would be a dud NRL coach. If they are looking at him we would be 1000% better of keeping Mick Potter.

I'm no Potter fan and wouldn't be upset if he was replaced with someone better….but parish would be much much worse.
