Wests Tigers side for Round 1

Late last night on channel ten I saw the tigers training. Lote was there and he looked a little slow and seemed to overshoot the mark. At least when he had to go sideways.

Turnstyle,

This is not having a go because it is clear that your post is well intentioned.

But I tend to think that our impression of players is very much shaped on how the media presents them to us. As we dont know the players personally it is diificult to look outside the media perception. Last year the media happened to focus on Farah's battles with Ennis for origin. I actually think Robbie played some very good games last year but he also happened to play some poor games as well (particularly at the back end of the season).

Watto I strongly disgaree that Farah is not in the top 20 players. Whilst his form may have been slightly down last year he is still one of top 3 creative players in the NRL. His form wasnt helped by the failure of the refs to adequately police the ruck. 2007 was without a doubt Farah's best season - he was robbed of the Dally M. If he can recapture that form we will go a long way to making the top 4.

hey southerntiger,
thanks for the reply - i certainy took no offense. good post.

i completely agree that i cant comment on a player other than what i see. i will never comment on a players personality or anything other than him as a rugby league player for the tigers as i have never met any of them and have no right to judge them in this capacity anyway.

what you say about us only seeing what the media presents is entirely correct in my case, as i am in perth.

the thing that annoyed me about farah was a story last season about how he always had "SOO" written in marker on his taping. i admit, this may or may not even be true, but if so, i thought it was not the sort of thing i would like to see as a team mate or supporter of the tigers - especially as he is the captain.

his obvious petulance in the post match press conference after round 1 last year did him no favours either.

having said that, i am sure there are many occasions where he would prove my 'selfish' theory wrong.

i read on here somewhere last season that an opposition player the tigers were giving heaps to (can anyone else recall it? maybe david williams?) stayed on field and signed autographs and it made me really admire the guy. obviously not _that_much because i cant remember exactly who it was!!!

the thing is, it is under conditions of adversity where a person really gets the chance to show a strong character.

in the end, i just want him back to his best and helping the tigers succeed. :sign:

oh man, when did he even get off the plane? i think it was only yesterday or something wasnt it?

anyone who has made that little journey will know that it takes at least a couple of days to feel 'right'. you know that feeling where you have 'sea legs' still? lol…

i think that was probably the worst you are going to see him. i hope so anyway!!

Anyone know if WT have any players out in monday nights clash with Manly.Hearing this up here….

It's a passing remark on what I saw and how I interpreted it. It does not imply that I think he was woeful. It makes no comment on his tackling or his sprint. It is a passing remark on his agility. As with most comments this time of year it should be taken with a grain of salt.

hey senexx - wasnt trying to sound condescending or anything. sorry if it sounded that way, i was more thinking about having to train that soon after arriving, not your assessment.

We look good on paper.Hope we can play up to that.Manly also have a good side on paper. Therefore this shpuld be a quality game….Of cource West Tigers to win

That might be taking it a bit too far. Mind you a beer here only sets you back 50c anyway. Tha reminds me to pick up a few on the way home.

lol… thats excellent.
unfortunately, im nowhere near important enough to meet with anyone outside my team, so thank god for foxtel iq!!

Im not really either Turnstyle. The key is to pretend you are and others will believe it. Im sort of joking but it is amazing how true this is. I learnt this from this crazy Chicagon I worked for a few years ago. The guy was one of the stupidest people I have ever met (in many ways) but people lapped up his lies.

My plans to hack into the NRL's free UK live streaming didnt work so i was stuck to listening to Golden for updates. Great win Tigers. I need a new plan for next weeks game though.
