Why do people keep saying it looks like Mbye might be gone next year? Have I missed something or is it just wishful thinking?

He openly admitted he asked to look for other clubs for next season, although now that he's playing better and not coming off the bench that could change.

That was in March, we have since knocked back at least one request from a club to release him. I think it would be a mistake to release him for next season at this point.

Only because dragons didn't want to pay anything for him, wouldn't make sense for us. It all depends on who else we sign and who they want playing where I guess, be interesting to see what they do but I'm sure they'll make the right decision. I wouldn't be upset either way to be honest

It won't make sense for us unless someone is willing to pay at least $5-600K for him.

I reckon the club would agree. At the very least it would need to be a little over half his salary and we would need someone coming in to take his spot, the fact it's the last year of his contract and we already have a good amount of cap open means we can play hardball with his contract to other clubs. If he had another 2 years to run it's a different story

I would try to restructure his deal for an extra year if possible to get him on a more team friendly contract next year.

I still don't see anything in him at all. We have changed our attack plans and set plays, any decent half would easily do just as well as mbye. I give him zero credit.

Well you could argue that our change of attack has been allowed to happen due to Mybe's style of 5/8th play, it it means Brooks and the the players around Mybe are playing better than I am happy to give him credit even if he isn't coming up with the big plays.

Yeah, a team is the sum of it's parts and how well those cogs align to help work with each other is paramount.

I think the experiment with AD at 6 is over, at least for now. The decision has been made that he is better suited to centre.

I reckon it's got more to do with brooks than it does Doueihi... Doueihi was our best player when he was at 6 (not perfect but performing very well) but it caused brooks to struggle, I reckon Madge's focus was on getting brooks back up to a good level of footy.

Just helps that Doueihi is also a very good centre. He will go back to 6 at some point I'm sure especially with Mbye looking like he might be gone next year. Maybe just alter how they worked together, it seemed brooks controlled the middle and Doueihi the edges maybe gift brooks more license to roam around like he is currently.

My take is that we didn't have much threat on the edge. If you play Doueihi in the centres you get him to run it even more. He is also a target in the air. Mbye doesn't offer that but he can do a decent job of ball playing in the halves plus defensively he works hard. It works better for the team to play Mbye at 6 and Doueihi in the centres for now. That may change next year though.

Strange AD not at 6.

I think the experiment with AD at 6 is over, at least for now. The decision has been made that he is better suited to centre.

I reckon it's got more to do with brooks than it does Doueihi... Doueihi was our best player when he was at 6 (not perfect but performing very well) but it caused brooks to struggle, I reckon Madge's focus was on getting brooks back up to a good level of footy.

Just helps that Doueihi is also a very good centre. He will go back to 6 at some point I'm sure especially with Mbye looking like he might be gone next year. Maybe just alter how they worked together, it seemed brooks controlled the middle and Doueihi the edges maybe gift brooks more license to roam around like he is currently.

Doueihi plays his best individual football at 5/8th, but that comes at the detriment of the players outside of him. You also stated that it has an impact on Brooks game so maybe it is better for the team if he plays at centre.

The players outside him scored plenty, he's got the second most try assists in the team. Before his swap to centre he was assisting at least one try every game. Brooks is more at fault for it impacting his game than Doueihi IMO, he had no confidence and Doueihi being a half who wants his hands on the footy a lot didn't help with that. Now that he's got his confidence back I could see them working a lot better together.

End of the day we are lucky Doueihi is good enough to play well at multiple positions and can be a team player. If Mbye goes we don't really have a 5/8 to come in besides AD

I wonder why he was moved then, and why we have put Walters of all people at 6 over him. The selection of Walters says a lot in my opinion.

Like I said it was for Brooksy, Madge needed him finding form again and Doueihi wasn't taking a backseat to him like Mbye or Walters will. Think the Walters selection will cost us today, he's not been playing very well but hopefully I'm wrong. Brooks will need a massive game today

I really like Walters, he is very knowledgeable about the game and I actually think he will make a really good coach one day. He is not a 1st grade footballer though.
