Wests Tigers Side

After MM broke his leg, Sheens said words similar too, "I think Moltzen can be a good halfback, but I think he can be a great fullback."

The man is obsessed.

And quite likely to be proved right.

I think that this weekend is a little peak into Tim Sheens plans for the future. He has always wanted fullbacks who are ball players (Hodgo's role) and I see him grooming Moltzen as the best of them. That is of course conditional on Lui doing as good a job or better than Moltzen at half. THAT is thebit we are yet to see.

If Lui can pull it off (not just in this weeks game) we are really well suited into the future IMO.

Moltzen
Tuiaki
Lawrence
Ayshford
Topou/Ryan/Brown
Marshall
Lui

Glenn I think your 100% right…
Thats the way I think Sheens is leaning to to take us forwards... lets hope Lui is up to 1st grade... but who better to ease him in against than the Sharks who are coming last...

TBH i think this is the best move we could do with Gallant out… Moltzen in the halves offers a very strong passing game (which i belive Lui can cover) and some great change of pace (not sure how quick Lui is...)

If we were facing the Eels I think this would be a very risky move, but Sheens has said that he wanted to give Lui a run this season and we have a great chance to give him ago against a VERY poor outfit in the Sharks. If the move turns out well then it could be great for the Tigers, if not and Lui tanks i still believe we have more than what it takes in this side to get a win at the very least and next week... we can sort something else out...

Moltzen no doubt will be wearing the 1 on his back but in our attack (or atleast 8 times out of 10) i wouldn't be surprised to see Timmy coming into the halves with Lui moving out into the centers (he's a very capable defender from what i have seen) and then Collis into a fullback position (I don't believe Lawrence will be playing guys....).

Hope it works out. I don't think Moltzen actually likes playing fullback. Just a vibe I seem to get when he plays there.

From where I was sitting on Sunday Moltzen's face seemed to drop after he was shifted to FB, he's done ok there this season without offering the same support play as Gallant but he sure does turn up to play with the 7 on his back, here's hoping the Nutty Professor has got it right…

He looked pretty busy barking orders and pointing at players to close gaps in the defensive line when he was shifted back to fullback.

Sheens has lost me forever, actually he did a long time ago. Moltzen at 7 and Benji at 6 is the future of this club for the next couple of years but the Fonz is dying to Jump that shark again. You could see that WT's success with Gallant at 1, Bagz at 6 and Moltz at 7 was killing him. Because we proved him wrong. Now he wants to ride on that success with this craziness.

I bet he was salivating when the opportunity to put Moltz at fullback arose. Yes he was.

Robert Lui would have got his chance eventually no doubt, he is too skillfull not to, but the Fonz's passion to have Moltz at fullback has seen Lui appear earlier that what we thought. Is that fair on him? Im not too sure, I wanna win, but god i'd luv to see the sharks take a nip out of Sheens, because no one else will.

Hate to break it to you mate but I don't think Sheens pays a single drop of attention to what the pelicans on here say, regardless of whether we agree or disagree with him.

To say you hope the Sharks damage us to prove the coach wrong; well in my opinion those are just stupid comments. I don't agree with everything Sheens does, but we've won 5 straight now, so obviously he is doing something right. To get all upset when an injury forces a team reshuffle… waste of energy. You are free to go nutsoid if we are towelled up by the Sharkies, but if we win it could be proven to be another good decision in a recent run of successful coaching ideas.

Let us also not forget that the general consensus in the forum last year was that Moltzen was failing to live up to his potential. After 6 months as FG fullback he really started to reach that potential, to the point where he could serve as our halfback. To deride his return to FB is a mistake; he is still a class footballer and so long as he is on the paddock we are better off.

Anyone who wants Hanbury to return to the starting line-up should go back and look at his combined efforts this year, then give yourself a triple uppercut. The bloke is so pedestrian he makes Beau Ryan look like Jarryd Hayne.

I was full of advocation for Hanbury's inclusion, worried that the dynamics of the side's attac was going to fall to pieces. Little or be known that Lui was going to be named in the Halves. Did not see this one coming. Hanbury might not be in the class of Gallant and Molzten when it comes to wearing the No.1, but i'm sure he'd handle the job if it was meant to keep the Marshall/Moltzen combo alive.

However, If Lui was not brought into the halves, I would have hated to have seen Molzten shifted to accommodate Morris in the No.7, however am satisfied with Moltzen returning to the fullback role on the basis and sole reason alone, that Wests have a specialist pivot that will be running out in the No.7.

A Molzten, Marshall, Lui, Farah attacking formula looks the goods on paper. Let's see if it can look just as dangerous on Sunday at Toyota Park.

to tell use the truth i think its a gamble

Lui hasnt played first grade this year but it might pay off next year or something

i am excited and cautious about him being there.
we will have to wait until after the game on sunday to give a better opinion.

why would sheens put someone out of postion

he always does it

Benji 6- 7

Farah 9- 7

Moltzen 7- 1

Morris 6 - 7

cmonnnnnnnn

Look for both Lui & Marshall to share the first receiver role. The traditional halves roles are no longer applicable to the Tigers style of play. Both the 6 and 7 alternate as first and second receiver throughout various stages of the game and either side of the ruck respectively. It adds a different dimension to the attack. This in itself will assist Lui in handling to the task a lot easier, lessening the workload and pressure on the kid, seeing both he and Marshall playing closer and wider of the ruck from set to set for Wests.

Is it possible that on the day, Lui goes to centre, Lawrence to fullback and Moltzen to half if we are down like 12-0 in the opening half an hour?

how many youngsters has sheens blooded and had total shockers?i think his record has been good as to timing the inclusion of youngsters into the team.

if sheens thinks lui is up to it,i am willing to at least enjoy watching him play the game first and then judge.
much better than going back to players who couldn't hold down a position like morris at half or hanbury at 1.
is lawrence even fit to play this weekend?

when we play not to lose we lose.

i knew payne would go back on the bench and not surprised to see galea find his way back to the bench after their starting efforts on sunday.
neither wanted anything to do with making the hard yards when we were camped down our own end for the first 20 mins.
no excuses for that.

Morris is leaving the club , no need to persist with him a halfback . Sheens is always thinking about the future and the perfect time for Lui to get some 1st grade experience .

Pacey I thought Moltzen went from 1 to 7
