I could be way off, but I feel like announcing two signings in two days was a show of aggressiveness on the back of the Aloiai rubbish. Almost like saying “you don’t want to play for us? There are plenty who do. You aren’t the be all end all Josh”. Who knows, the club might even add another signing next week.

I actually emailed Pascoe earlier in the week to suggest it would be a good time to release some positive news if he was sitting on any because there was a lot of negativity about the rumours about Aloiai and McIntyre. So I am taking credit for it lol.

Correlation credit, interesting.

Geez that highlight reel shows how much speed JTJ has but what I loved the most was how he changes speed to step around the defence and within two steps is back to full speed again. That type of speed creates gaps out of nothing.

The signing of Roberts increases the pressure on BJ Leilua to perform next season.

It’s effectively a contract year for BJ with the club having the option for 2022. He turns 30 end of next year so his next contract will likely be his last - he’ll need a big season if he wants to maximize his earning capacity.

If the Jet is fit and ready to go then he’s going play right centre (BJ’s spot) where he’s most effective. BJ spent time early in his career on the left at Roosters and Knights, and there’s every chance that’s where he’ll train in preseason. He’s spent years though playing down that right channel, and has adapted to its nuances. BJ struggled last season with the move to Sydney, it impacted his preparation, and most the year he looked under done, was down on form, and this all ultimately culminated in him being dropped from the top 17.

Rugby League is his livelihood and best opportunity to make some money for him and his family, but the challenge may have got that much harder with The Jet landing in Tiger Town. Can he make the adjustment and be effective, or will his game continue to drift in the wrong direction.

Will be interesting to see if they both train at right centre or if they move one of them to the left. So hard to know whether Roberts will make our top 17, maybe he won’t in round 1 but can force his way in. I feel like Roberts would be better on the left partnered with Brooksy

The Jet has a right arm carry and left hand fend though, that’s far more effective when he’s playing right centre and steps inside and uses the fend on the sliding defender.

Whilst not quite as effective, Roberts can use both, unlike say Marty Tapau that is a one trick pony.

I wonder if having JTJ now allows for further talks with Melbourne regarding a TT swap for JAC. TT might be willing to move on given increased competition in the centres now.

As posted in the JAC thread, Interesting listen on SEN this afternoon. Interview with famous sprint coach Roger Fabri who was asked the fastest footballer he had worked with. He said over 100m definitely JAC but over 50, our very own James Roberts.

Im really glad the Tigers have given him a shot and I really hope he makes it, for his sake more than ours.

Timana Tahu being bought on board to work with indigenous players and closely with James Roberts

Good stuff. They’re really pushing building up the indigenous culture at the club and it seems Jimmy will be a big part of that, and it’ll also help his mental health.

Sounds like he will be quite heavily involved, hopefully this will become a strength in the club.

It's good that we are addressing a possible cultural issue ...but it won't matter if that player isn't a respected figure of the particular culture

I'm not a Timana fan but that is probably because he probably scored as many tries against the WT's that Gasnier did

With Us now having Jimmy The Jet on board and Timana Tahu keeping a wise eye on the Indigenous side of things...I have a suspicion The Fox "will" be playing for Wests Tigers in 2022.
Also...I loved the Indigenous art on the wall behind "the Boss" when he introduced the new "Ask The Boss" segment.
