Wests Tigers Sign Luciano Leilua till 2022

Welcome Luciano - Have been looking for a chance to cheer you on - now that you are with the Mighty Tigers - We both get a chance to do our thing.

I am sure you will give this everything and show everyone just how good you can be.

I am happy to have what he will bring to WT. I recall him playing on the left, is that the case, or can he play both sides of the field?

I was impressed with Leilua at the backend of 2018 when the Dragons made the finals. The Dragons pack was suffering from injuries but both rookie forwards Leilua and Blake Lawrie really stepped up and made big contributions. The Dragons were playing high pressure finals football and both these blokes handled the intensity, they turned up in defence time and again and were willing and able to carry the ball forward. Leilua has the added bonus of soft hands and the body shape to ‘bust the door open’ and pop a reliable offload.

Some positive signs at the end of 2019. He played 80, 70 and 72 minutes in rounds 22-24 and maintained decent tackle efficiency for a 2nd rower (usually that's where it shows if they don't have the motor). Ran for 112, 107 and 151 metres in those games. Scored a few tries, threw a few offloads, broke some tackles...all good signs.

Love it.

Now let's see if Maguire can get him fitter and some minutes out of him

Love the old “If coach x can get him fit”. Awesome cliche.

Great news. The guy could really be anything, hopefully Madge can improve him.

Could be another Taupau.

I hope he keeps him exactly as he is

We def got the better end of that 3 way trade.

In previous years, we'd end up with the bloke coming to the end of his career (Prior/Merrin).

In this trade, we've ended up with the potential for a lot of upside.

Great signing, this guy has heaps of talent, could be anything.

On a side note, how crazy are St George letting him so they can bring back an ageing, past his best by date Merrin! I thought only we did stuff like that 😂
