I know its no surprise, but geezuz Im sick of signing reggies players

Tapau and Austin were considered reggies players when we signed them.

These new signings could be anything. If they kick on, awesome, if not, no harm done.

Spot on Nors05\. I don't know much about them, but i wish them luck.

My team for next year (provided we re-sign Ava and Halutau):

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofo
3\. Naiquama
4\. Simona (he's a quality centre, don't think he needs to move to wing)
5\. UP FOR GRABS
6\. Moses
7\. Brooks
8\. Woods
9\. Farah (80 mins, no more interchanging)
10\. Taupau
11\. Halutau
12\. Lawrence
13\. Sironen (I think with the new interchange rules we will see a comeback of the ball-playing lock)

14\. Ava
15\. Sue
16\. Lodge
17\. UP FOR GRABS

If there is any money left we need to sign a winger. Kevin Gordon is apparently on the outer at GCT. Sign him up with GCT paying a chunk of his contract!

I havent seen a rugby player make it in the NRL yet.

The key words/letters being NRL.

I like others that have responded to this post instantly thought of the players that they have named, but of course all the really good ones were prior to the modern expanded competition.

Sorry, I've been at work and havent had a chance to add more to my comment.

When you look at players like Sailor, Tuqiri, Andrew Walker and Matt Rodgers, they left the NRL and went on to play for the Wallabies. They left being great at league and went on to be great in union during the modern era where the money in union was the same, if not more than league.

How many prospects of union have turned their back on that game to have a crack at league and have succeeded in the modern era?

Every union player sticks to union because they're simply not good enough for the NRL.

If Jesse Parahi couldnt make it into the Wallabies team and be a regular on that team, what chances does he have in the NRL???

Given the millions of players pre professional rugby Ill keep it to the last decade.

Cooper Cronk, Simon Mannering, Taniela Tuaki, Tohu Harris, Luke Keary (though he played league also), Andrew and David Fifita, Matt Duffie, Roger Tuviasa Scheck, Jared Waera Hargreaves, Jarrod Saffy…..

Plenty have transitioned pretty well even in recent years.

As for the signings, Chee Kam still excites me, I have always thought he might make it, the other 2 look like depth signings for me, pretty sure they are both second tier contracts only as well.

Looking forward to watching Chee Kam tonight, i rate this guy so will be good to see him up against the premiers to get a read on his development.

I dont expect too much but some good impact and at least one hit on a Sutton or the like to make every take note.

I reckon I could give you a list of at least 50+ players who played Union before switching to League at a junior level

Out of those 50+ players, how many played Super XV or test rugby before switching to the NRL and who were they?

This is exactly why I should read EVERYTHING lol. Even at junior level, it really doesnt matter what they play. Once they're old enough to choose, if they're good enough most will follow the path into NRL. If they've decided to stay with union, typically, it's because they haven't been snapped up by an NRL club because they're simply not good enough. Jesse Parahi might prove me wrong and I hope he does but looking realistically, his signing could end up being a Sam Harris version 2 situation.

Yeah Goose, plenty have played at junior or low levels. I took Chris to be alluding to a like for like level or similar.

Sam Harris played 23 times for the waratahs before switching to the NRL, and he flopped.
