Wests Tigers Head Coach Tim Sheens has named a 15 man squad for the NRL trial against Parramatta Eels at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday, February 19.

Sheens has selected a strong team and will add to the bench after monitoring players in the earlier trial matches.

As part of a feast of footy, 4 matches will be played from 2pm with the NRL trial at 7.30pm. Gates open 1.45pm.

“I will start the game with that 15\. I have got to see Balmain, Wests and our U20s all play in earlier trials before we finalise the actual numbers,’’ Sheens said this morning.

“Most sides at this stage are still playing squads of 23-25 players. The extra 10 or whatever I use will just come out of the earlier trials.

“I’m very happy with our preparations outside of having a few too many in recovery. I’m pretty happy with where we are at physically and mentally in getting them ready at this stage of the year.”

Tickets sales have been strong. It will be just the second time the Eels NRL team have played at Campbelltown Stadium since Wests Tigers began, the first being a trial match against Wests Tigers a few years back.

The trial match means Campbelltown will now have 5 matches this year of which 4 are premiership games.

looks like Mitch Brown has won the battle for the wing spot over Ryan.

Great to see Junior Moors still in the mix and Aaron Woods on the bench.

Looks as though we have injuries to Gibbs, Payten, Ellis, Fifita and Fulton (suspended).

Strange to see Woodsy on the bench as I assumed he would be at starting prop for NYC.

Will be interested in hearing how they all go and reports on the players who get called up

It is just a trial, but interested to see if Mitch Brown gets the go ahead instead of Ryan during the season…
Hmmmm, but yeah it's good to see Moors named and Flanagan is getting a run.

Payten, Ellis, Gibbs & Fifita might just be taking it easy, who knows... injured ? Shouldn't jump to conclusions.

And I think Geoff Daniella will be great as always, he is a class player and shows his standard greatness whenever given the chance.

Stoked with that backline. Happy for Jnr and Woodsy. Not sure if Fifita is injured, was thinking he might get an extended run for BRET or Wests before coming off the first grade bench later in the evening.

Fulton & Ellis have known injuries/suspension, not sure about the absence of Gibbs, Payten and Fifita. Beau Ryan has dropped off the radar.

Heard yesterday on Sports Tonight that Benji said he'll only play half a game this week then a full game against the Rorters. Could see Jacob Miller and Sean Meaney get some extra game time.

Given its trial period it probably makes more sense for some of these big forwards to get extended game time, especially guys like Fifita. As someone suggested if he's available for selection he might play some state cup and if he pulls up come on as a reserve in 1sts.

Mate I just had word at work this morning before the team was named that Woods would be on the bench. Very interested to see how he goes this year. Also good to see Moors well in the mix at this early stage.

With another 10 players to be added, most of the team will get a rest for the second half so it should prove interesting to see who Sheens calls up.

Andrew Fifita is getting over ankle surgery. Unlikely to see him this weekend. The likes of Roqica, Schirnack, Farlow, Meaney, Politoni and Mullaney will be fair chances of getting a call-up IMO.

Ah okay. Thanks for the tip Willow. I'd like to see Roqica in particular get a run. He looked pretty impressive last year.

So, is Beau injured or is it time for "Beau knows state cup"?

Does anyone have any idea when the state cup and 20s teams will be named? Should be interesting!

Hopefully the latter

I think it's great guys like Junior are starting as he does have the ability to play great footy (google his run over Idris …beautiful).
Woods getting some experience at a higher level. Brown deserves a spot as he was playing top footy,
I like the look of it for a trial match.
Remember we still have 4 weeks before the season for us
Good luck boys and pray for no injuries

A solid side and pretty close to what you would think will start the year. (obviously excluding injuries to ellis and co)
I like the inclusions of Mckinnon and Brown along with Flannagan and Moors.
It will be interesting to see where others wind up when BRET and Wests name their teams. Hopefully we dont have to wait too long

id say we will also see mullaney, politoni, begovich, miller, meaney, tagive, hyland, akeripa, davis, murdoch, roqica and shirnack all added come game day
