He could be playing for his life and I wouldn’t expect much. Like some scene out of a Saw film.

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating sacking Madge in my criticism of his selection. I don't like sacking coaches. I just think this is the start of the team starting not to listen to him and follow the plans which is only going to lead to average play and a year or two from now we might be in a similar position. I like Madge, like his attitude, just think the tinkering with the halves is a bad move and suggests a lack of clarity on how he wants the team to play. People say he's holding players accountable but good teams don't stuff around with their halves and bad teams do. Melbourne was a bit of an exception last year in not settling but look at the what the good and bad teams are doing this year. I just think our best team has brooks and Marshall in the halves and stuffing around and not finding a way to make that work spells trouble.

Other than the one or two serial offenders, almost everyone has lifted for the team since we've lost players due to injury and whatnot.
Madge's methods or expectations might seem a bit much however we've been understrengthed for weeks now and most of the boys have been more than capable. I see you used Storm in your example, well this is where Madge has first-hand knowledge of what it took for the Storm to build a mentally tough(resilient), competitive and successful team. He knows what he's doing.

I love Luke and hate coming to the realisation that our past systems and structures have somewhat failed him but it's actually more painful to see his evolution/development come at a standstill when so many others have gone up a level or two.
Think he's just going through a form slump tbh but that's just my opinion.
He just has a responsibility that's not being fulfilled and I believe Madge can get the best out of him and that he'll really thrive if he's just comfortable with his own role and ability.

I don't think any of us want to see frequent chopping and changing, but lately it's a necessity for the team - especially during our injury run - and Madge's plans.
His job requires him to bring the best out of the team as well as strategically set goals for the team's future, all this is in effort to turn us into genuine premiership contenders ....and I believe he's hellbent on trying to give us fans the chance of watching our team in the finals this year.
It's the most professional approach our club, coach and playing group has taken/made for quite some time so we should all be content with this new shift in culture.

That's 15 too many. Hopefully Madge forgets he's on the bench and just runs with 16 blokes.

Bold call. I just don't see how we'll be in the same position in two years time. Not unless we fail to resign the key players we already have. And they'll stay if we win a few more games because they'll start getting rep mentions and they'll have Maguire to thank for them hitting their form. And in the meantime we'll undoubtedly recruit more talent.

Not being smart, but who are our key players?

I’ve got no problem with this somewhat new and different (to WTs that is) approach that Madge is taking. Holding players responsible for their performances and using the “squad” mentality. In all his conferences and interviews he is repeatedly sending the message about the importance of changing the way our club has been. We all watched in past seasons when the team were so ordinary but the exact same group were named again week after week- as fans we were crying out for changes. Now Madge is doing exactly that and people are still complaining.

hahaha good question. Based on potential, Twal? Dare I say Nofa? Douehi? Mikaele? Talau? Garner? Aloiai? Luc? We've got the basis of a pretty good pack amongst that group.

You probably name them all. Unfortunately only 1 spine player amongst that. We need some major work.

Fun fact: Moses Mbye leads the team for try assists this season with 5. Brooksy only has 1! Joey Leilua only managed 1 despite having our top try scorer next to him too

Yeah, job part done. The biggest challenge for me is how we attract the rest of the spine. We don't have a junior crop the size of Penrith's to rely on and historically we've never attracted strike players at any position. Its probably just Tuqiri and a long way behind that are Blair, Mbye and BJ.

Mbye is the whipping boy on here because he's overpaid. He could lead the NRL in try assists and people would still call for his head.

There are long term plans for hooker with Liddle and Simpkin, big question mark is on whether brooks can find his form again and what we do for a 5/8

I think he is playing injured at present due to the fact we have zero depth in the backs

Maybe not the place, but related to tonight's game.

Nothing “Fun” about that fact.
