Wests Tigers Team v Manly..

Madge got it right with Kepaoa last week, so I'll back him with Chee Kam this week.

Not sure what's going on with Mikaele. Has gone backwards since his rookie year. Maybe struggling with injury? He does okay in his limited minutes. Seyfarth has earned another go at FG though, so well done to him on a recall.

Turbo would have a field day with Joey!

Mikaele has had a few decent runs while Seyfarth has been excellent. People want accountability and rewarding reserve graders well this is it.

Seyfarth has averaged 127 metres a game, tackled at 95% efficiency, grabbed a try and works his butt off every game. Hard work deserves to be rewarded, no he won't have the impact that Mikale can have off the bench but he'll do a good job

Major issues with the team is Ofahengaue still on an edge and Chee Kam at centre. I'd swap Ofa and Garner and put Joey in for Cheeks.

You can’t be a big scary looking human in the NRL and just go okay, or make a few metres off the bench, it’s about rattling cages. I’m sure that’s not the targets Bellamy sets for his big men, just ‘mediocre will do’

Second last on the table pretty much fits the bill ...seriously looking at the selected names that's an ordinary footy team .Manly by plenty the wheels are off in no uncertain terms very sad !

lol...Just ignore the baggers..

Seyfarth over Mikaele is madness. Sure he's going well in NSW cup but he was diabolical in firsts last year and is not an impact guy.

Mikaele isn't dominating or anything, but in the past few weeks he's been good at bending the line and helping generate momentum with his carries. He's been growing into that 25-30 minute bench prop role. If Seyfarth is keeping it warm for Blore's return (with Blore to 11 and Ofahengaue to 16), then fair enough. But Madge is kidding himself if he thinks Seyfarth is a genuine bench option going forward.

Chee Kam over Leilua is stupid too. How many times does MCK in the centres need to be tried and failed? Joey at least offers some upside, MCK is a bench second rower and not a centre.

Those saying Mikaele is unlucky, what exactly has he done for us, looks like Tarzan but intimidates nobody.

Has he delivered on potential? No

But why drop him when if anything form is improving in recent weeks, that's what I find baffling. Good luck to young Seyfarth though.

He’s a category 4 plodder

Need the score breakdown please mate. It is a big call, unless you are giving too much weight to wrongness of head.

Try scoring ability - no stars
Speed - no stars
Hole running ability - no stars
Wrongness of head - no comment, too scary
Big hits that scare people - no stars

Mikaele?

Correct, justifying my classification of grade 4 plodder

I’d have him a class 3
Still better than Seyfarth imo

could it be ... Mikaele to Penrith Naden to us for 2021
interesting no Naden named for Penrith either

Maybe mate . Maybe Mika has indicated he doesn’t want to re-sign , as he’s off contract , and it kills 2 birds . I could have sworn he wanted to return to Gold Coast some point , and he just wanted to show the loyalty we showed him in the last contract negotiations.

Agree . He has an offload , is strong in defence , and we can move him around to edge back row , as we see fit .
Put it this way , I doubt we let in a billion tries through his corridor this weekend . Can anyone say that about Joey ?

Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire has named his 21-man squad face the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles on ANZAC Day this Sunday at Bankwest Stadium.

The match is the first time since 2004 that Wests Tigers will play on ANZAC Day, with Maguire's side looking to bounce back from their last-start defeat in Round 6.

After an impressive NRL debut, Jake Simpkin has retained his place in the side and will start the match at hooker with Moses Mbye named on the bench as a utility.

Local junior Alex Seyfarth is the new face on the bench as he replaces Thomas Mikaele, with the 22-year-old set for his first game of the year after playing four games in his rookie 2020 season.

Michael Chee Kam also starts in the centres in place of the injured Asu Kepaoa — who is out for the season after suffering a torn ACL last weekend — while Joey Leilua returns from concussion and has been named in the reserves.

Following another strong game for the club’s Knock-On Effect NSW Cup side, Tom Amone is the other player named in the reserves to round out the 21-man squad. Western Suburbs Magpies will feature as the curtain-raiser on Sunday, with Ben Gardiner’s side looking to extend their winning streak to five games in a row as they face the Blacktown-Workers Sea Eagles at 11:20am.

Wests Tigers defeated the Sea Eagles 52-18 in their pre-season trial match earlier this year at Leichhardt Oval, and have won five of their last six regular season games against Manly.
1 Daine Laurie
2 David Nofoaluma
3 James Roberts
4 Michael Chee Kam
5 Tommy Talau
6 Adam Doueihi
7 Luke Brooks
8 James Tamou
9 Jake Simpkin
10 Stefano Utoikamanu
11 Joe Ofahengaue
12 Luciano Leilua
13 Alex Twal

14 Moses Mbye
15 Luke Garner
16 Alex Seyfarth
17 Zane Musgrove

18 Jacob Liddle
19 Thomas Mikaele
20 Tom Amone
21 Joseph Leilua

I would prefer 15 and 17 to start over 10 and 11

Mikaele dropping is strange.

He's very young, and showing signs of improvement again. Offers more than Seyfarth IMO.

MCK is.... left-field, feel as though Madge is settled on Mbye as the utility and nothing more. BJ to come in, if not I fear it will be MCK to start.

Um... what upside does Joey offer? Please enlighten me?

Pretty silly to judge Seyfarth off last years performances he was thrown in too early and was found out. He's playing better than ever now and deserves the call up. Mikaele is lazy and makes errors, runs the footy well but don't we want consistency?

Maybe Madge is promoting effort, not reputations?

Musgrove on the bench makes Mikaeles role less important too. Musgrove is a better impact player and player overall

Watched Seyfarth lately the guy has a huge motor could be the reason

You could apply the same logic you used about MCK's centre selection for Joey as well. How many chances does he get? I can't remember a single good game he's played for us.

Chee Kam surely doesn't end up starting. Seyfarth rewarded for his excellent start to the season. Besides that wasn't expecting much different

I wasn't expecting Mikaele to get chopped tbh. Can't say I'm a fan of the bench.

I suspect the coach wants to give him some game time in nsw cup to keep up his fitness
