For those negative repping me go ahead.

Im never going to be happy with ONE player being made a scapegoat for two weeks of humiliating and absolutely heartless performances.

Neither should you!

It wasnt just BJ's fault!

It wasn't just BJ's fault, but Madden is not going to make the squad stronger, nor will whoever replaces AJ, even though he deserved a dropping (I didn't downvote this by the way)

Doesnt matter.

thats the message it sends to the playing squad.

Was all BJ's fault.

AJ Shouldn’t be there. His effort stunk last round. He can consider himself extremely fortunate.

I think it is reasonably clear at this point that Madge talks a good game, but is fairly weak when it actually comes to changes. Even BJ has been given number 19 rather than a 'go shake hands with the reserves coach' style dumping Bennet hands out.

AJ, Brooks, MCK, Garner...Madge has never left anyone out for more than a week.

Hate to say it...but he is all talk.

Literally all he did last year was drop players and it's been two games and he's dropping players already. He's not afraid to do it at all, but with Talau at centre who do we have for wing? Doubt he wants to mess with the spine too much either.

If he is going to drop Joey he should also drop AJ, then Mbye to center and Talau to wing.

I didn't think AJ was as horrible as everyone's saying - a lot of the defensive issues on that side came down to Joey. He ran the ball well when given the chance.

Mbye at centre and Talau on the wing with Simpkin on the bench. He's been stuffing up bench selections for 3 years it wasn't going to change today.

That's the strongest bench we've had in forever... if they don't think Simpkin is ready if believe them. It's easy for us to say throw him in when we don't even see him training or playing. Mbye offers a heap of utility off the bench and we've got 3 good props there as well.

Well Madge saw BJ train every day and I don't think that worked out too well. He also said Brooks was ready to lead the team and that didn't work out too well either. He also said he'd been heavily focused on defence during the offseason and we've conceded over 60 points in 2 games. I have zero faith in his selections anymore.

maybe if he didn't focus on defence it would've been 80 points in two games.

That glass half full thread has me looking at positives only.

I know we don't all agree on the team list but let's be thankful we aren't cowboys fans - Payten is refusing to drop literally any of their bad players and has players out of position LOL

I really don't think so. Not saying he was good, but the defensive issues were on Joey most of the time. He made the third most run metres in the team and only 1 error - Nofa had 4.

If the same issues happen with Talau at centre then I'd say give him a stint in reserves

The coach can chop and change as much as he likes ..I posted a very long time ago this team is going nowhere with Brooks .The team runs around with no structure no clean ball to basically any player and this is a continuation from last season .Until Brooks moves on this team has no chance of playing finals footy it all starts at number 7always has .I just can not believe how inept after a whole off season this team actually is ,its starting to get a smell and its coming from the coaches direction !

Quick question if a player is not named in the 21 man squad (simpkin) and say Robert's pulls up short before kick off and mbye slots into centre can we call him up or is it just the 18- 21 we have to choose from?

It's just the 21-man squad we get to choose from

Cheers mate

Don't underestimate what an aggressive bench/forward pack can do for the entire team. Seeing someone like Musgrove running full pace and bending the line and then followed up with Mikale doing the same really gives the team a lot of momentum (what we do with that is a whole other argument however). We are constantly fighting out of our own half so a huge body bench may give us that spark in the middle of the field that we have lacked the last two games.

Just the 18-21

Ok cheers mate appreciate it. So if something does happen to Robert's it's either MCK or BJ God help us lol

MCK is a proven winner ?

Hahaha future captain right there lol

Agree. And seeing him grinning on the field after that pathetic effort should of been enough to see him suiting up for our CC team IMO.

I would say the same for Nofo. I watched him on Sunday in Campbelltown sitting in the rain and all he kept doing was looking at the big screen. He needs a kick up the backside to run hard and straight.

I also went to Canberra and watched BJ and AJ smiling and fist pump each other when Canberra were packing a scrum after BJ threw the poor pass to JTJ 10 metres out from our line.

I never played First Grade, however I would be filthy when we lost and whilst sportsmanship would see me shake hands after the game I would hate to lose.

I am not seeing that in this group at the moment bar a few like Laurie, Liddle, Stefano.

I can accept if we are beaten by a better side on the day, however this is only when the effort is there.

AJ was as bad as Joey on that side
like Brooks we have nobody to replace him with though

Madge had to drop BJ. I think we can all agree on that. I don't think he wants to be accused of dropping players too soon or too often, as he copped it for this last year. However, another putrid performance like last week and there won't be anyone objecting to him dropping another two or three players. I really don't know what to expect this week...hopefully the left edge won't leak as much now BJ is gone.

I wonder how many more try's and try assists Simpkin needs before getting into the 17.

1, 321 I believe Avo.

Newcastle will trot out a Newcastle side- big forwards, clever halves and workmanlike backs
Their formula hasnt changed since forever
So our strengths?
I’d love to see Newcastle’s analysis of the tigers-
Does the team have any strengths?
To me, play them in the forwards and hope for a Liddell ,Laurie or jackson break
And let douehi do all the kicking
That’s our game plan
