Thank heavens Blore is in...finally gets to start.

For those who said "what has he done"...well, he averages 2/3 of Garner's stats in 20 mins. Garner got 80.

Should have been starting for months.

Talau...just what a liability.

Young Jake is a rep class prospect...he should be 14 and sharing mins with Liddle.

Jake's best mate is Hoffman...who is being let go and given absolutely no chance. Would not be surprised also if Jake asks to go somewhere as Madge only plays one hooker and Liddle has that spot for the next few years possibly.

Where is the news that Hoffman is being let go? Doesn't he have a NRL contract for next year?

That shows the risk in recruiting gun kids, a significant percentage will never make it as an NRL player.

A couple of the 'insiders' said he was unhappy when overlooked for Pauga...and, let's be realistic, we have been absolutely terrible at center all season...and he is only player not to get any look in at all. None. Not even named in the 21 as a token gesture. He is clearly not rated by Madge.

Insiders on here don't get much right. Hes not in the top 30 and wasn't standing out in reserve grade anyway.

Fairly clear he is not wanted...

He really should have been given a shot ahead of Pauga.

I don't see how it's clear at all. He's been given a debut already, he's being left to develop and he'll be in the top 30 next year. Pauga looked more impressive in reserves plus he's older and more experienced. Let's see if he gets a shot next year and what they do with him before jumping to conclusions

So Pauga was sent out to defend the best player in the world {Turbo} and against a form side being Manly last week. I think we could all see what was going to happen there. Now he is dropped for a bloke that wasnt good enough last week to play centre {Mbye} but now he is good enough. So if ever there was a game to play a potential future centre surely this game would be it but no lets drop him like we did to Cini to really drop his confidence. I dont get this coach.

Pauga was defending a second rate centre who scored tries at will. He has no future in the NRL. You don't get the coach because you don't understand rugby league.

Thoughts on Hoffman tho?

Usually agree with what you say mate but calling Harper second rate is so far from the mark. He’d walk into majority of teams at centre because of the defensive job he does and chips into attack when he needs to.

Yeah, sorry mate, I've had a bad day. My point is though, he's not up to it, even though he tries hard. Just an indicator of our shallow pool. TT's probably not up to it yet either, but what else do we do? You don't want to throw them in to early and do a Cini on 'em.
Anyway, I apologise again for being snappy. This lock down is doing my head in. I know it's the same for everyone and I'm noone special but geez, I'd love to go for a swim....

Swim would be great. Even seeing anywhere except for the local park would be great.

in a game that we are going to lose anyway let the kid have some experience against the best. in a winabla game we go for safer option. just like how they let rookies play in the last leg to have a taste when the game is already won.

I think I was a bit harsh on Pauga. I had to apologise for that post. Poor little bloke tries but he just doesn't have the size. I don't know about Hoffman. I saw him at training pre season and he's a unit. I wonder if he can play 13? Still just a kid so we'll see I guess.
A mates son played juniors as Mark Gasniers centre partner at St George and played under 20's when he was 17. Had a shoulder and knee reconstructed before he was 19 and quit before he turned 20. I look at him now and he's a real specimen, looks like he could still play but he said at the time he just wanted to be able to walk into his 21st! Saints didn't care, they still had Gasnier and Cooper.

That to me is about the best team that we can pick. Let's see how they go.

We need to remember that we are still competing in the comp, still need to pick the best available?

I disagree. We are not in this competition by a country mile. He should be picking players with next year in mind.

Look at the ladder.

I get what you are saying but lets face it we are not going anywhere if we make the semis. It will be another slaughter by the Storm.

Agree, and probably won’t make the 8 either, but making would be huge for the club and anything can happen.

It would be good for the club and to give the players a taste of it. Dont disagree with that. I just think he should be thinking long term remembering they dont hand out trophies for coming eighth. This big fascination with making the 8 always makes me laugh. Most of the 8 are just making up the numbers.

But we haven’t done it for so long, hence why it’s important to us and the club, so I don’t think it’s time yet to try things, we have to put our best 17 on the park.
If we are no longer a chance, then I think they will do as you are wanting?

He is clearly not rated by Madge.

Have you seen him in reserves ? Pauga and Talau looked a lot lot better than him. I can't believe he got a development contract.

Yes, saw most of the state cup games this year.

He has not stood out, but he has been solid and has size.

Talau has had a million chances and come up with a million mistakes...yet we keep picking him.

Cini should have been given a shot at center ahead of Hoffman, but I'd take either of them over Talau and his zero footy IQ.

I wouldn't have Cini anywhere near the centres in FG sorry.

Absolutely disagree - deserves a shot ahead of Talau but we could settle for less

Did he not come in originally as a center Willow?

There is no path for him at FB at the club...if we reach the point where it is mathematically impossible to make the 8, might at least be worth a shot then?

Yep, but he's too pedestrian in attack when it comes to FG and defensively is on par with Pauga IMO.

Is Talau really in the real team or are we being punked?

Who else do we have?

Cini
Hoffman
Cooper

All deserved a shot...Talau has been given 20 chances, no wonder people get frustrated. Last week Talau dropped a ball cold after good D by the team...cost a try. Then slaughtered a basic catch and pass try. 12 points.

And missed 5 tackles.

I mean, at least let Cini or Hoffman have a shot at the spot...they can't be worse.

None of those options are any better. There is no point chopping and changing unless you have a clear better option.

Hoffman to me looks ordinary. He might come good but I couldn't pick him. I'd pick Cini again without a problem.

Talau really hasn't impressed has he. He has some good moments but those good moments do not add up for all the bad moments. I'm fine with Talau in reserve grade and seeing if he can improve but atm he isn't a first grader.

Ogden is the future at centre. I also think we need to give AJ Kepaoa another shot there in 2022 - looked good in the limited minutes earlier this year before doing his ACL.

Very hard to tell with AJ as he looked terrible in almost every game...yes, looked much better on that night v Souths he got hurt, but Cini / Talau / etc have all had 50 mins where they looked good.

His hands and passing game do not look like NRL level IMO.
