2. kepoea played a solid game except for those 2 mistakes. He’s 3rd highest in our team for Meters per game. He does a lot of important carries out of trouble that goes unnoticed. Also playing with an injured knee. He will only get better with more games.
So over this take. I don't care if his early set carries are good if he drops the ball every time it goes to him on the wing. He was so close to literally handing the game to the Knights on Sunday
If you think he dropped the ball every time it was passed to him, you didn't watch the game. I finished watching it for the second time last night and I think he dropped it twice - once the pass was almost behind him. Someone else said, every time he kicks it out - how many times has he kicked it. On second viewing I thought he was no where near as bad as people are making out on here. Not making excuses but he has potential and is improving every game. Remember he is not a winger (he is a centre come FB) but he is better than anyone else we have to put there. The people on here wanting to put Mbye in the centre, Talau on the wing are basically wanting this to be able to put Simpkin on the bench.
Too many want to make AJ the whipping Boy - even when we win.
I was the same. Watched it again and he did a lot of good things too.
It's a work in progress and way too early to give up on him.
I think , because of the expectation at those times in the game , and the emotion of “oh No , here we go again “ means , that the mistakes are fresh in people’s minds . His yardage work is good , his defence is OK , and he seems safeish , under the high ball . It’s just those catches at speed . I’d be pointing the kicking machine at right angles , or someone with a bullet pass , and just launching them at him while he runs onto it . At his feet , behind him ,at his head . It’s probably a confidence thing too , “oh no it’s coming my way , the games in the line “ . I reckon he will be alright .
Just tell him to stay away from Facebook . Twitter and the forum .
All this is valid, but the place to improve is reserve grade.
He is a winger...with bad hands. He dropped balls cold last year also. He also can't draw and pass like a good winger. He is a work in progress, but you can't carry -12 points in the NRL from one player.
Zac Zini was very good last week and should have been given that spot on form.
