With the Badge on the payroll, he does realise he has to ref for us sometimes.
We probably still wouldn't win the penalty count 🤔

Our boys will be pumped after last weeks win and I say they'll be up for it.
They'll be eager to smash Matto.
The forwards will rally around Stef to show the slime what they lost.
It's not a home game played on the oppositions home ground.
These will all be telling factors in a close-fought match.
If we get numbers in the tackle, wrap the ball up and stop their big men off-loading, and by extension, generating 2nd-phase play, we're gonna win this, although silly errors will probably negate all the good things we do. We just need to concentrate on the simple things and not give them something to celebrate. If there's one thing I've noticed it's how they grow from small victories. We deny them that and stay competitive and we're 2 on the trot.

Also, a smart kicking game to negate Princess Fergie and Sivo. If we need to kick early to find grass, so be it. Or put it high so the chasers can get up and pressure them. The kick-chase will be an important factor against their back three. Queen Gutho has a knack for finding space in broken play, like some sort of slimey sea-creature.

1. Simpkins time will come, everyone be patient.
2. kepoea played a solid game except for those 2 mistakes. He’s 3rd highest in our team for Meters per game. He does a lot of important carries out of trouble that goes unnoticed. Also playing with an injured knee. He will only get better with more games.
3. Mybe is solid in Defence and can cover multiple positions in the team. Brings experience too. - maybe in the future if this option doesn’t do anything that standouts we will see Simpkin take this role.
4. We can beat Parra, just need to minimise offloads and our mistakes. Sivo is a bit suspect under the highball, I would be targeting him with those spiral bombs and kicking away from gutho. Similar to what teams have done with nofa this season, it keeps the meter eater out of the game.

kepoea Needs to start thinking run over the top players first before anything else, he has the size now.

He does it taking good carries out of our own half but would like to see him trying to run over guys near the try line or when he makes a break.

So over this take. I don't care if his early set carries are good if he drops the ball every time it goes to him on the wing. He was so close to literally handing the game to the Knights on Sunday

watch Jake Simpkin leave to another club soon not even in the 21

Chill. It's only round 4. He's played 3 games of professional rugby league having not played a game for 18 months.

He's a mile better than Mbye and probably better than Liddle at this stage. He should be in the 17 and it's pretty silly that he isn't.

I reckon you are right and it's the right move for the team but I can understand giving him time playing reserve grade. He is only 19.

Surely he gets a chance at some point this season and if he continues to play to the level he seems capable it'll be hard to drop him.

Liddle is also off contract this season whereas I think we have Simpkins for another 2 years.

Tim Brasher made his debut for Balmain 1st grade when he was only 17 years old. Rankin made his debut many years at an even earlier age.

There is a difference between playing in the backs and the forwards.

e.g. Liddle 50 tackles in 60 minutes, Laurie 2 tackles in 80 minutes.

If you think he dropped the ball every time it was passed to him, you didn't watch the game. I finished watching it for the second time last night and I think he dropped it twice - once the pass was almost behind him. Someone else said, every time he kicks it out - how many times has he kicked it. On second viewing I thought he was no where near as bad as people are making out on here. Not making excuses but he has potential and is improving every game. Remember he is not a winger (he is a centre come FB) but he is better than anyone else we have to put there. The people on here wanting to put Mbye in the centre, Talau on the wing are basically wanting this to be able to put Simpkin on the bench.

Too many want to make AJ the whipping Boy - even when we win.

This is a fair enough comment. Selective memory tends to recall the bad and forget the good. The kick out was a poor decision (should have passed), the dropped pass on the wing was, well, it was just a bad drop.

We don't have a lot of options so I can accept we stick with him but hope he can get the errors out of his game. I still believe he looks overwhelmed in first grade but the only answer is more experience.

I'm over your take. Kepaoa made a glaring mistake, everyone saw it. It's debatable whether or not it was a critical mistake with Tigers on the attack.

But he made 2 errors the entire match, including that handling error. Tommy Talau made 4 errors and gave away a penalty. Tamou and Leilua made 3 errors. Nofa made 2 errors. And bearing in mind that wingers tend to be one of the most error-prone positions because a high % of their plays are under heavy pressure: early tackle hitups, defusal of corner kicks, sideline/corner pass receipts, pushed passes.

I'm not even much of a Kepaoa fan, but let's not allow ourselves to become preoccupied with one or two glaring errors and overlook the entire output from the player over 80 minutes. Actually, if you want to really give Kepaoa an 80-minute review, it's his defence that was arguably least effective - 4 tackles made, 3 missed.

If he could play Fullback,Wing,Centre 5/8 and half back he can take Mbye's spot in the meantime he'll have to bide his time in NSW CUP and keep gaining experience as a lot of young players have to do.

Liddle can’t play 80 so we need someone to cover him. Mbye is hopeless at hooker. I don’t believe he should have to bide his time if he is good enough (which he is).

He may not do much as a hooker but he does what is needed and if a back goes down who gonna call.

We may not need a back but we will definitely need a hooker.

And our 1st choice hooker scored 2 tries in 3 games, not bad! His service was nearly faultless, and with our experienced, and sadly the worst forwards in the NRL: Tamou, JO, Packer and L Leilua - we cannot expect more!

There is a lot in this post Im struggling to parse. First of all, Liddles service was faultless? It was rubbish, passes too high, behind players. Im not sure what has happened to him but his passing is poor.

Tamou, JO and LL worst forwards in the NRL?

Yea . I like Liddle , for some reason he picks it up now instead of off the deck , I wonder if that’s the Robbie coaching influence .
But his service needs to be faster , and he needs to get out from the ruck and jump out .
To be fair though , most players , like your cooks tend to do that against inferior defences rather than 3 of the best 6 defences in the comp . So on that m it’s a bit early to tell. But he’s going alright , he just needs to work on his fitness . I notice his service gets poorer as the half goes on , which is a match fitness issue , and it’s understandable. It’s only been 3 weeks . By round 6-8 if it’s still happening then we have an issue . It’s way too early to tell IMO.

Talau did well at centre, don't think moving him to the wing is the right move. Unfortunately that's means AJ stays at wing by default

My complaint about the situation is not the team selection, but the fact we don't have another genuine option for the wing who isn't a reserve grader or someone who's more a centre than a winger. Club should've planned ahead instead of desperately trying to sign Naden now.

If Cini can play NRL(?) he deserves a chance ASAP.

He's done well in reserves so far albeit at fullback

Cini was great at the FB in the last game :muscle:
Unfortunately, AJ has 'brick' hands and his kicks always end over the line! To me it is obvious that we have a better options at the moment, one is Cini and the other Gebbie.

Debbie hasn't played a game yet, only been here a week.

I was the same. Watched it again and he did a lot of good things too.

It's a work in progress and way too early to give up on him.
