WESTS Tigers Team v Roosters (official)

@swag_tiger I feel like not watching live because I may put my foot through the telly. Let's hope your feelings are more accurate than mine.

My mate is a Rorters member and he is taking me to the game on his members ticket. I have asked myself a few times why I’m subjecting myself to a Saturday night, surrounded by arrogant, over confident cock supporters who will all smirk knowingly as they chalk up another win. Well the reason is ....... there is the slightest of chances that we could win 😉

@TIGER You're normally right with your gut.

Might put a lobster on Easts to win as well just to really skew it in our favour haha...

@momo_amp_medo Agree totally. We will need defence like this!!!! [link](https://youtu.be/FyEEN-41MNw )

Yeah I kinda feel like that too. Last week I was not going to watch but ended up turning it on, regretting it after first 20 ..... persisted and ended up enjoyed the rest of the game.
This week I really don’t know ,... might tape it and follow the thread on here. It seems that when things are going bad being in company of fellow sufferers eases the pain .... somewhat.
All I ask for is a respectable performance. Another 50 point thrashing will not go down well.

Sorry should have checked before posting. Have no idea how to edit a post once sent. Sometimes this new version of the website is really frustrating to figure out!

Thanks .... I knew I saw it on here before but things are rather minuscule. Not complaining, great work on the site otherwise.

Tigers to upset the Chooks, you heard it here first.

I hate to admit this but i feel a win.

Very brave indeed. I reckon we'll compete well but the chooks will have too much class and beat us by at least 20.

Benji is out and Matterson is playing 5/8 yes? This could be a Godsend.

It may be that Marshall is still injured or it may be indicating that Maguire is planning a forwards dominated attacking game.

Noooooo..Mitchell Aubusson is starting in the centres for the Cocks...

We have shown in the recent past that we get up for these types of games when no one gives us a chance. Expect the boys to put in a good showing.

Hamstring still playing up apparently. Matto played very well when he moved into 5/8 last week and our backline saw plenty of ball resulting in lots of tries. Different opposition this week obviously, but I'm thinking that Matto might be a better option than Benji, who still relies too heavily on fancy plays for my liking. Great when they come off, but the success rate is pretty low and the Roosters are a team that will make us pay greatly for any mistakes we make, guaranteed.

The only downside I can see with putting Matterson in the backline is that we lose some forward power and our forward stocks are already pretty low.

No issue with Matterson at 5/8. Can do the job and do it well. No point risking Benji.

@Spud_Murphy I'm OK with it. Easts will look to butcher us on the edges. ET and McQueen were very good defending out wide last week so a repeat performance will help nullify the threat out wide from the Cocks. Plus Matto and Mbye combined quite well I thought.

Even if we play at our very best, one thing keeps on bugging me.
We do not have a reliable goal kicker.
So here, again, we will have to score more tries than a good defensive team.

NRL Team Update: Round 8

Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael Maguire has updated his 19-man squad to face the Sydney Roosters on Saturday night for their Round 8 clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Kickoff for the match is at 7:35pm AEST as Wests Tigers look to build on their last start win over the Gold Coast Titans against the defending premiers.

After undergoing fitness tests throughout the week, Benji Marshall (hamstring) has been ruled out by Head Coach Michael Maguire in a late change for the side.

With Josh Reynolds (knee) also sidelined, Ryan Matterson will shift in to the halves alongside Luke Brooks with Luke Garner moving in to the back row.

Originally named as reserves, Paul Momirovski, Jacob Liddle and Russell Packer have all been retained in the squad with David Nofoaluma dropping out.

For the Roosters, Matt Ikuvalu will come out of the side this week as he continues to recover from minor ligament damage to his knee from last week's match.

Mitchell Aubusson will come into the centres, Joseph Manu shuffles from centre to the wing in Ikuvalu's absence, while Lindsay Collins joins the bench.

Final team lists for both sides will be confirmed prior to kickoff (6:50pm, Saturday).
