If you’re going to make a comparison with Garner and Lawrence, how about the far superior record of Garner in catching and holding the bullet pass from a half, as opposed to Lawrence, who invariably spills it?

2020: Luke Garner 5 errors in 9 games. Chris Lawrence: 5 errors in 8 games. Nofo has made 14 in 11 games. Stephen Crichton has made 15 errors in 11 games and by all accounts having a great season.

Yeh mate just drag up some narrow statistics to justify your point. 2020? Seriously? Do some homework and come up with comparative career average error rates and get back to us.

Ouch

I can't find an all-career stats resource, and I looked, so if you have one we can use for discussion, please share.

You accuse me of not doing my homework, I would like to think after posting on this forum for 15 years I have a reputation for ALWAYS doing my homework.

Also your original comment is itself devoid of any quotable data.

What I do have is access to 2020 stats, and there is that old argument "you are only as good as your last match".

If you did any more research you’d have a PHD in forumology. Just perhaps stick to 2500 essay word limit when you post?

Spot on, I thought it was hilarious when some accused @jirskyr of not doing enough homework. I'm surprised his posts don't include a bibliography, hang on he will probably start that now.

Bibliography ???

You just know, that now that he has been called out on not doing his homework he will be including one.

Yep, could be a couple of lengthy posts coming. He’s the only poster that has a critical friend critique his work!!

No wonder he is so slow responding, that is a time consuming process. We better get back on topic or willow will be onto us.

Glad to see Twal back in the side. 😛

I’m not even sure what thread this is!?

The NRL site has all career stats, but mistakes like errors and penalties conceded etc are not included. Could always ask the oracle David Middleton?

jirskyr's thoughtful, well argued and well researched posts are always an interesting read.

It makes a change from many on here who make glib comments and dress up their opinions as fact.

Someone makes an assertion: jirskyr rebuts the assertion with current data: and is then told by his interlocutor to go away and do more research. What a joke !

Keep it up jirskyr. I'm following your posts with interest.

Foxsports do... https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/player

Lawrence

2018 19 games 17 errors 10 penalties
2019 13 games 6 errors 0 penalties
2020 8 games 5 errors

Garner

2018 5 Games 1 error
2019 14 games 4 errors 5 penalties 1 sin bin
2020 9 games 5 errors 4 penalties

Rowdy has never been sent to the sin bin in 15 years of FG..

Exactly mate, I don't think there is anyone on this site that provides more evidence for his opinion than @jirskyr

Yeh, in hindsight, my comments weren't fair. I don't spend as much time on here as others, but I did look at some of your other posts and, yep, you do your homework.

Don't let a cranky old pr**k like me deter you from your work.

But in the crystal clear hindsight of a defeat to the Warriors, I do not see any place in the run-on side or bench for Chris Lawrence. He simpy is not that answer anymore to any of our problems.

No worries.

On Chris Lawrence, I think there's a place for him as a backup. I have a lot of respect for blokes like him who give 100% every match and apply themselves to playing smart football. Some people only see his loss of athleticism, which I realise, but actually I think Lawrence was one of our best against Warriors. Worse are the other blokes who DO have the athleticism but not the heart or grit.
