Wests Tigers Under-20s team for 2011

We need to bite the bullet next year and include 4 or 5 of our best 18 year olds in the Under-20's team.

Throw in this years top 12 or 13 from Begovich down to Woods and use the year as a building year for the future of the club.

Wests Magpies under 18 SG team was one win away from making the Grand Final in that competition yet no players from that team made it into the 20's this year.

Curtis Sironen showed what he can do when used in the 20's. Why was he the only player used from the two under 18 teams we have ?

Matt Groat will almost certainly get a run next year. Matt Brassington is another who has big wraps. The 20's should be strong next year with the nucleus of this year's team still eligible. What they need is a good halfback to steer the side around the park. Young Sirro looks to be a good 5/8/backrower in the making.

add daniel ahsin as well to that list as well expect big things from him

He had a good go against the Storm a couple of weeks ago. What's his background?

Forgot about Ahsin..Yeah he has to be there for sure. I was expecting him to be there from game 1 this year.

Ashin is an Eaglevale St Andrews junior who played SG Ball for Western Suburbs. In 2009 he represented NSW combined High schools and from there made Australian Schoolboys.

Daniel Ashin and Matthew Groat were both selected for the 2009 schoolboys, Groat still being at school would probably be the reason he wasn't given a run…but I wonder what happened to Ashin ?

He certainly was impressive in the game against Melbourne.

Ashin…Played the last couple of games....good player...

I reckon they should just put together the strongest squad as possible. If that means some of those players are 18 year olds then so be it. If the 18 year olds aren't as good yet as the 19, 20 years olds then they can wait another year. I thought most of the time there would be a few standout 18 year olds in the Under 20's squad anyway. When you watch some of those highschool games some of those players are already pretty big and skillful.

I found a Roosters blog and they seem pretty certain that we have him. I am pretty sure that toward the end of the year he was playing 5/8 in the under 20's for the Chooks. They sound a little cut to lose him. Sounds promising as they rated him pretty highly.

The Matraville Sports High team of 2009 made the Arrive Alive Cup grand final and had Liam Ayoub as half-back Finau Faleula on the wing and Jacob Miller was the 5/8.

Any player that makes the Australian Schoolboys team as Jacob Miller did in 2009 has to be rated as a good signing. I can see why the roosters would be upset..

The future looks good If he has signed that means we will have 8 Australian schoolboys available for the under 20's team next year.

ill be interested to see how this team will line up next year. tbh it will be difficult to fit so many quality players into one side. im interested by the recruitment of tagive as you would think that finau and james tedasco would have the wing spots sewn up. im sure im forgetting someone but i could see the backline looking something like this;
1\. Ratu Tagive
2\. Finau
3\. Matt Evans
4\. David Nofoaluma
5\. James Tedasco
I cant believe the tigers actually have options in the halves, with brassington, kitt, miller, sirro and evander waitoa all staking a claim. i think sirro may be shifted to the second row or bench to give the team more options in attack which is something we really struggled with this season. if i had to make a choice, id go with:
6\. Miller
7\. Evander Waitoa
with sirro in the second row later in the season
where to begin with this forward pack? i think they will be difficult to contain
8\. Roqica
9\. Dean Parata/ Ratu Marika Koroibete
10\. Begovich
11\. Spence
12\. Murdoch
13\. Ahsin

14\. Woods
15\. Groat
16\. Bristow
17\. Politoni/Parata
sure iv forgotten someone but ill be interested to see how anyone thinks this team might fare.

I don't think Woods will start off the bench. The wraps the club has on him are just too high, if he's fit for round 1 he will start with a view to getting a run in firsts if his form is good enough and injuries strike. The Tigers should have a very good squad next year though.

You would also think we had Finau well and truly locked up but I believe Parramatta are interested.

Some good knowledge and analysis here - You have given us plenty of names to keep an ear out for.

Who is the Keep at all costs emerging player???
