Brooks was pretty average. But in saying that he's an average halfback so can't expect great things from mediocre talent. Kicks the ball dead to often. Can't build pressure with no repeat set, not pinning teams down in there own 10 and giving a free 20 metres and 7 tackles.

Wasn't a very good repeat set as the dropout hit the ground and ended up travelling about seventy metres, but think he was the only player to force one last night. Sure, one attempt was a shocker and went way dead, but he was good at the start and likely fatigued as the match word on in hot and humid conditions. Overall, yeah average, still probably the best performing half on the field.

Yeah I blame Luke for that 2 as he obviously called MINE..

I note to that Thurston and Martin found the turf with passes a few times in that 1st half…i think they were playing with the greasy ball..

Look guys , very hard to rate a players kicking game on a ground he is playing on for the first time , especially allowing for the fact Cairns has had a lot of rain recently

I thought he was rocks and diamonds

All the forwards really impressed , pleasantly surprised by Rochow and Mikaele

Reynolds OK , McIllwrick was good and Godinet went well

Backs played well Lolohea ,Thompson , Milne and Nofoa looked good

Overall some bright signs for 2018 , can't wait for the real stuff

Particularly hard to get your kicking bearings when the there is a track around the field or on a cricket oval. Godinet wound the clock back five years with that effort.

I highly doubt it's some form punishment…in public?
Poor form if so imo.

haha…yeah that's what I was thinking but couldn't even put it into words

Expect that it would to make up for the lack of minutes spent on field as part of today's sport science, which I have little understanding of.

Foxsports headline saying that Reynolds starred for the Tigers…I hope he is just what we need in this team to take us towards finals footy....early days yet but there is plenty of promise being shown so early by many...

I watched the game and I wouldn't say he starred..he threw some silly passes and crabbed sideways a fair bit…it was a typical Reynolds game... nothing to write home about.

I agree with that assessment. Personally im quite concerned we have invested 4 years into Reynolds. I have no doubt he will create plenty of points for us throughout the season, especially following Esarn around, but there will be plenty of downside to his efforts too. Not sure we have the balance right with him at 6.

Defence and controlling the ruck is usually what wins games in the first 3rd of the NRL comp. IC has done a great job in both areas and for me thats what the game was about last night.

The players still to come in are all fairly strong defensively with the exception of Benji.

The attack will come after round 8 or there about's.

Brooks did get a repeat set…must of been a blackout at that stage...gave up 2 7 tackles as did Reynolds...

I guess Thurston and Martin are crap cause the didn't get any and gave up 3 also..

U just compared brooks to Thurston so that makes your opinion irrelevant.

This has been brooks since he came into FG. No inprovement at all. Where do you rank brooks amongst 1st grade starting halfbacks?

No just in that particular game but carry on…

I thought he was very good considering it was the first trial and he didn't play the whole game. Looked dangerous and dominant. I was impressed. Imagine him and N Cleary in the halves!

Reynolds is a running 5/8 and Brooks is a running halfback. Cleary and Reynolds will be a very good combo. No doubt this was in mind when signing him. Reynolds gets no credit for his ability to read numbers and generate opportunities. He is more than
An ultra competitive clubman. Very good player however, his passing game and organising has always been average.

Without an organising half Reynolds will struggle. Besides kicking Brooks played well ran the team and his touch finders were very deep off penalties which is a big change.

Reynolds' vision is fine but I think he fails to capitalise on it sometimes due to his dodgy passing.

Who do you have below him?

It’s a bit rough but on form Brooks is only better than maybe Townsend, Nikorima, Croft.
You could make the case he’s the worst halfback in the NRL as Mbye and Hodkinson no longer start.

Sezer Frawley Ben Hunt Adam Reynolds..

The Dragons paid a Million bucks for Hunt to throw passes to row zz last night..that was funny..

based on last night played better than the No.1 so I dunno…

Who were the 2 players being made to do sprints by one of our trainers on the field after everyone was already on their way to the sheds? Harsh! I couldn't quite make out who they were on my iPad.

One was definitely Fonua. I think the other was Reynolds

Yep, correct.

Cool thanks. I'm guessing Fonua was being punished for ill discipline but not sure why Reynolds would be there.

more likely he didn't get the minutes he needed so was told to do some 'extras' to make up for it.

It would carry a little weight in my mind if they did it off their own bat
