There is a lot if debate about the new salary cap ceiling.
Many clubs have already signed players in the belief that it would be around $10m from 2018
Many observers believe that the NRL will actually have NO cap for 2018 similar to the AFL this year. This will favour the big clubs who will get to keep players where normally they would have to shed. It puts us at a disadvantage because we have count every penny and may lose the "other 3".
If the NRL go with a salary cap well under the $10M for 2018 then these clubs must shed players to stay under the cap. This would favour us as we have money and some good players would be forced back into the market (probably even subsidised by their previous club). Some observers believe that the NRL are deliberately going this way as a means to helping the lesser clubs - Wt's, Newcastle etc.
This is why I am astounded with money being offered to the "other 3" and others (J Bird).
