Wests Tigers veteran Chris Lawrence says it’s time for young halves to deliver on potential

Here we go again - Rowdy bashing is back, just when you thought it was safe to go into the second row…. They're back.

On topic - Yes the halves need to stand up a bit higher in 2016.

However it is Catch 22\. They can't stand up if the forwards don't go forward consistently.
They didn't do that too often in 2015\. When they did the halves played well.

How about everyone get on the forwards backs for a change.

Wasn't meant to be a rowdy bash.
He should concentrate on his own game instead of worrying about the young guns.
He has more to prove than them.
He has always been a good defender but lacked size for backrow but this coming season he has bulked up so I expect more from him than anyone.

We need to get some value out of him he has not been worth the money thats for sure.

Injuries or not he has been poor, its time for him to produce i know that much.

Absolutely. The forgotten man. Has shown small improvement each season and now has the games under his belt where you'd hope he starts having an impact in every game he plays, not just every second or third.

I'd like to see them make the playoffs to blow it out Rothfield's rear end.

Spent a year injury free now, I think he'll produce some moments for the highlight reel next year, put on a bit of size and hopefully hasn't compromised too much of what speed he has left.

As for value for money, he's not on his own there, there's four or five players I could rattle off that need to produce this year, three of which reside in our spine and are chewing up a significant amount of the cap.

It amuses me that Lawrence is referred to as " veteran " , isn't he only 26 ? if that's the case wish I was a veteran

Rowdy's class will see him take on Lewis's role for NSW & Australia in the next 12 months.

CHAMPION!!!

Agreed

Jeepers….have you blokes been on the cans together? Lawrence is a million miles away from Luke Lewis-standard. Rowdy will be doing well just to get a regular gig in the WT pack let alone representative jumpers. Hope he goes well but I'm not expecting too much TBH.

Hopefully Chris will deliver in the second row as he has been very average since his injury.
Cant believe we still carry him. Dead wood.

Couldn't agree more.

And, more concerning, is that we are expected to feel something positive about his position on the leadership team?

He's a liability. A has-been.

How desperately low must this club be to fall back on Chris Lawrence as being marketable?

If any of the 1000 back rowers we've signed step up, Rowdy will be playing NSW Cup.

Couldn't agree less. He was our best backrower at the end of last year, and he looks like he's bulked up nicely over the off-season.

I'm sure they chose him in the leadership group because he's a whole-hearted 80 minute genuine leader, not because he's marketable.

Exactly Masterton.

Some people on this forum would not know a footballer if they fell over one. I'll say this again. If we signed Hayne and Falau the haters of Taylor and this club would decry their purchase. They will never be satisfied.

I think Rowdy is spot in in regards to why its taken some time for the halves to deliver on their potential, but if Taylor doesn't let them play their natural game, they will struggle and will be more likely to look for another coach/team that lets them play their own game.

Apart from pass kick run and tackle…just what is their natural game...?

Maybe its five passes to the forwards and a mid field bomb.

Maybe JT really is letting them play their natural game and we have fallen for a ruse!

Yeah like that happened for 24 Rounds…

Chris was our best back rower last season. And people want to bag him? A young, handsome and somewhat intelligent and articulate players? Speaks far better than Robbie or Woodsy ever have.

.

To play what they see in front of them and not be bogged down by high percentage robotic play isolated from each other on opposite sides of the ruck.
Maybe I can put it more simply for you: Backyard Footy.
