Matulino, Packer, Grant, Twal and Sue is a pretty good rotation ..the minutes should be shared fairly well…
Getting up the field wasn't that much of a problem this year tho...finishing was ...that and stopping teams rolling through us was...

Geo - I was overseas from mid June onwards and missed the rest of the season. I visited this site pretty regularly and got the impression from comments that our middle third defence improved with the addition of Twal and Eisenhuth to the pack.
Is that right, or did we still struggle to contain the opposition go-forward?
@ said:Sue improved a lot over the last few weeks, the only role he looks ok in is as a bench prop.
Obviously the two new signings will start, but Sue, Twal, Aloiai and Marshall would probably be my bench in round 1, with Eisenhuth at 13 and two of Taylor, Lawrence and McQueen in the second row.
Actually we have too many players, I can't pick a squad let's wait until round 1.

Disagree… Getting up the field as a team was acceptable, but it wasnt done through the middle and by our Props like the smart teams. It was obvious Cleary would designate sets were he was resting our big timber [assuming due to fitness], and while it worked it also allowed the opposition defence to maintain its structure.
If we are going to be competitive in 2018, we will need more meters in the middle and less of this rubbish angle and wider running from our Props. To achieve this, we must have 3 props on the park for the 80min, and ensure they display the discipline of playing tighter. Matulino and Packer are 2 who I feel can execute this, in conjunction with Eisenhower at 13\. Therefore, I'd play either Packer or Matulino from the Bench to maintain this discipline throughout matches, allowing Twal to complete his apprenticeship as an NRL Prop without the stress of having to do more than expected.
Another player who plays tighter and will go about his domestic duties in attack is JJ Felise. Sadely, he is too lazy and lacks concentration in Defence. I'm hoping Cleary can fix this aspect of his game.
Any thought of playing Josh Aloiai in Prop Rotation is pure madness. This bloke is an edge forward and if he can stay fit [and be allowed to play wide] could become our best Forward.

He went well last night, his powerful angle runs could be useful, he was always our big hope :sign:
