What about the penalty count???

I dunno. I dislike Cameron Smith but to me it just looks he tried to change direction and fell over. Beyond that he might have over egged it.

Thats what I reckon. It looks like Matulino hardly even touches him.

Nah, he plants his left and then lifts his right leg and foot so that it can slide, which is the opposite of the actions if he was wanting to go the other direction. He dropped like a spud and he had to as he was approaching running ten metres.

That sin binning was ridiculous. Matulino didn't do anything wrong. Just the rich clubs getting the calls from refs once again.

Someone needs to make a GIF of Smyths shameful dive.
Typical cheating tactics from him playing outside the spirit of the game.
He needs to be shamed and highlited on google ala Ben Creaghs tutu

100%, he needs to be called out and shamed for that pathetic dive that looked like a slide into 3rd base. Maggot of a bloke.
Surely someone on here is able to do it?

BAM!

Good onya BonusT, nice job mate!
Clearly shows Smith up for the slimy, deceitful vermin the bloke is, on the field and off. Shame some people are too blind to see it, NRL HQ being the main culprits.

Can’t agree with some of the posts re Smith. Sure, we all don’t like him - because he is really good. But to call him slime and vermin - really?
His press conference last week where yhe simply said Tigers were very good and didn’t allow Melbourne to play well was an honest assessment not filled with excuses like we usually hear. Also his humility shown in his speech after the 2016 grand final was all class. Pity not all NRL players are as respectful.

Mats was never on side and got involved. He would have been binned even if Smith didnt fall over.
Farah used to run at offside markers all the time and nobody complained if he got the penalty.

Difference Faff got 2 in every 100 attempts..Cammy 98 out of 100…

Cammy fell over at 9.5m into his run another ,5 of a m and Mats pinky touch would have been fine..but if milking penalties is now the norm ....bring it...

Agree on farah, Smith is way smater.
But milking penalies have been around for ever, since Benny played anyway. And I wont be whinging if one of our guys does it to Thaiday this week. And neiher will anyone else on our side.

Honestly, there are people making themselves look foolish on this thread with accusations of bias. The penalty count looks extreme but that's the defensive style the Tigers are playing - it's on the edge and we're going to have to accept that we'll be pinged for a lot of offside calls, slowing the play the ball etc. The gamble is that we'll cope, and so far it's paid off. A few of the Storm penalties looked marginal but that's always the way.

A few specific points:

- If there was a conspiracy to "get Billy his win" why was the forward pass to Addo-Carr called back? Don't get me wrong, it was forward, but I see far more egregious ones let go in virtually every game including two consecutive ones in a try Brisbane were awarded the previous night. at 8-6 to Melbourne this would have been a sealer in all likelihood and if the fix was in it 100% would have been given surely.

- Munster's throw on Naiqama. Looks bad and I don't doubt it's evidence that Munster is a germ, but it's perfectly legal. At the very least it was in process as held was called - it certainly didn't happen after the call.

- The sin binning was completely in line with refereeing policy this season. Smith absolutely milked it but Matulino also absolutely knew where he was. He thought the defensive line was shot so he impeded Smith - as the third consecutive penalty and a professional foul it's a binning every day of the week.

- In general, the comp this season has been riddled with penalties from what I've seen. In the second half the Tigers did a lot of defending and their defensive style is, as I say, pretty on the edge. I just don't think the count is out of line with what might have been expected given all the inputs.

Whats this, a bit of sanity in the discussion, OH NO!!

IF this this how it gets when we WIN, If we lose we'l be hanging Refs and Linesmen from the crossbar .
We won guys, and imo we were lucky to get away with the penalties that we had against us in the second half.
Not saying we were lucky to win, but we pushed the boundries and copped the consequences.
we dont cheat as much as the Storm, but we better change that quickly if we are going to defend that way.
Otherwise we just better get used to a lopsided penalties

Yet you hear the refs call milking milking 20 times a half just not on this occadion…interesting
