What age did you start feeling old?

I went to a party the other week and partied for 5 hours before heading to the casino.

It took me 3 days to recover from dancing all night I honestly couldn't walk afterwards. I would try walking but my legs gave way.

Age is just a number they say.

I started feeling old in my early 40s, being a wall & floor tiler for many years had seen my back with the wear & tear, dehydration, disalignment & arthritis of, according to my Doctor "like that of an 80yo".

That was BEFORE a building site Marine ply hoarding gate approx 4m x 6m & all its metal components (locking mechanism, pulley parts etc) came down on me crushing my cervical & lumbar spine.
I could literally hear & feel my discs popping out from between the vertebrae & leaving permanent nerve damage.

I'm turning 59 later in the year, so I AM OLD 😂😂 but it hurts seeing my bright 102yo Grandmother & my 79yo very active workaholic Dad get about the place better than me. So yeah I feel old alright! 😕

Last Friday.

59 here.

Class of 1984. So good, they made a move about us.

Last Friday I was informed that the first one of my school mates died of natural causes - 2 having passed via suicide and one via a car accident.

Poor bastard was on the far left hand side of the bell curve. I'm hoping that I am on the far right hand side.

I'm 73 and my wife is 70 and we have a 1 yr old living with us and tearing the place apart. Too busy trying to keep her out of mischief to feel old.

I turned 70 a few months ago and I don't like to think of myself as old even though the aches and pains are a constant reminder that I'm no longer a spring chicken and I'm finding it harder to do certain things.

Funnily enough when I was a young bloke I thought 30 was pretty old and didn't think I would live long enough to reach such an "advanced age."

Well as I passed that mark my thinking slowly started to change and these days I consider old age to be 10 years older than I currently am.

I constantly make comments about being an old fart and similar such like comments but when I tell people how old I am most are genuinely surprised, most thinking that I'm 10 or 15 years younger.

I guess sooner or later my luck will run out and I'll start falling apart in a big way.

In the mid/late 70s when disco and punk became popular.

I was into Oz rock - "Keep Music Live". So I couldn't relate to meat markets with canned music or to bands that didn't play well but had "attitude". That makes me an old fart for almost half a century. Or seasoned.

Being 60yo now, I would have been considered as being at the end of middle-aged in the year that I was born, but Australian men have a 20% longer life expectancy since then, so we get an extra 5 years before being considered old.

Per @hank37w above, I have basically always seen anyone 15 years older as being old. As for feeling old, everything still works, though not as good as it used to and my 2027 begins with left knee replacement surgery that is also affecting my hip angle

My orthopaedic reckons my right knee has several years left in it, so hopefully surgery goes well and it helps me not feel old until until I officially get there.
