what ERA did u support THE CLUB

‘88.

Elias, Pearce, Jack, Roach, Sironen 🔥

Never forgotten the devastation of the 1989 Grand Final and losing two in a row. That team deserved a premiership.

Have tried to forget the execrable Alan Jones era and the ‘90s generally. I basically stopped following the game entirely for a number of years.

My old man was born in Balmain. His family moved to Coledale/Wombarra but I was born and raised in Woonona.

I have vague memories of Balmain losing the 1966 GF (wasn’t there but just tidbits on news and paper), I was 10. I really got interested after 69 GF win but Rugby League Week started in 1970 and all of a sudden there was regular league news about the Tigers and other teams.

Dad started taking me every week to watch the Tigers play in 1970. He went to show me where he lived as a kid but not only was the house not there but the street was gone too.

Like all of us, a long suffering fan. Fave players were Big Artie and John Spencer then Geoff Starling (sad) then Neil Pringle. Then Pearce, Blocker, Siro and Elias.
Recently, the clowns - Fulton and Gibbs, Benji, Farah and Gareth Ellis.

Balmain from the Mid 70's .. Watched some favourites like Pringle ,Lockward , Corowa , Topless , Knight ,Bendall and Wigam etc
Got to see the progression of international fullbacks in McMahon , Jack and then Brasher . I watched the likes of Pearce , Sirro ,blocker benny shine in 2nd and 3rd grades to progress to legends of the game.
But here now today i get to witness the progression of a club heading to obscurity.

Current team is worse than the worst of the '90s era Tigers. Change my mind.
? If you did in fact support the Tigers in the 90's you wouldn't even need to ask this question. There wasn't a single game they lost then due to lack of heart and effort regardless of where the opposition stood on the ladder, and they certainly would not have been beaten 20+ by a bottom 4 side minus 5 players .
