What if the Magpies were the sole NSw Cup side?

I've thought about this long an hard. Lot of sleepless nights. On the weekend I booked myself into a self serviced apartment at Kiama in order to nut out what is the best way to move forward…

Well it worked... I have come up with the most beneficial scenario.

It's not one State Cup team... sorry to the haters.

It's not two state cup teams... Oh can feel the fossil wrath now... Ouch!

It's three state cup teams .... Yes 3 !! Wests Tigers, Balmain and Wests !! Wow pure Sheenius !!
Mr 50% has said it, so has Mr Humph... even a majority of this forum have said it ... the club has so much depth that we could field two first grade side... 4 halves, 6 fullbacks, 22 backrowers... Etc etc...The talent is endless !! The results speak for themselves...

Each side will have there own player roster, finances, office, development, home ground etc

amazed no one else has thought of this earlier...

If both sides agree to merge at NSW Cup level then so be it, but until that happens they should split the Wests Tigers contracted players evenly between Wests and Balmain Ryde Eastwood. I highly doubt they would base the WT Under 20s team or a WT NSW Cup team at Campbelltown unless the first grade team is based there because they will want them all together. The club probably should have been based at Campbelltown Stadium to begin with instead of Concord Oval. They could have built the head office and gym next to or connected to Wests Leagues Club which is right next to Campbelltown Stadium and right near Leumeah railway station. Maybe it will happen in the future. It would be pretty good. And before you guys from the Balmain side of the fence get your panties in a twist, or spit out your lattes onto your computer monitors in disgust, I am not saying we should play all of our home games at Campbelltown Stadium. It's only fair that we stick with Campbelltown Stadium and Leichhardt Oval having an even amount of home games each. I hope both grounds increase capacity in the future so we will be able to stop playing home games at SFS and SCG.

You know it makes sense!

Good idea… They should build an office next that room with the Wooden Spoons

Love ya passion guys, you should all nominate for roles on the board.

I applaud WT for taking the stand this year… WT's realise the future of their brand isn't Western Suburbs or Balmain, but more importantly also realise they need a reserve grade squad assembled playing together week to week. It is my understanding WT placed thier cards on the table, and Magpies decided not to be apart of it. You got what you deserved... Your 2's didn't get you anything!!!

Making stupid threats to provide or facilitate other NRL Franchises only weakens your business relationship with the Wests Tigers, and they will further alienate Western Suburbs. But then again, 0 from 0 = 0... I was just being polite giving you 2's

Lawrence ACE, Fulton ACE Gibbo ACE Dwyer KING Fifita KING…..full house of Wests Magpie jnrs with more on the way....pfffft 2's

once again you claiming fulton as a junior when hes born and bred in the greystanes area so hes a parramatta junior and fafita born in the parramatta area and played in griffith so how the heck you say they are wests juniors.GEO

Every team losers juniors to other clubs its nothing new it has nothing to do with wests tigers so called shabby treatment of the macarthur area SO WAKE UP.

Im so sick of these old wests fans AND IT IS ONLY THEM on here complaining about not getting a fair share and tell me what they did with all their so called juniors when they were not affiliated with balmain.I will tell you sweet _**[edited by Mod]**_ all they run last every year and the football club couldnt afford to keep any players. They were perrenial losers.very lucky to have a club to follow at all.

Simple solution when every team is made to field a nsw cup side next year is merge balmain and wests and its what lamb and sheens have both said would be the best thing for the wests tigers which is the club we all should be following. The only time i would support one teamin the nsw cup is if its Wests tigersnot balmain or wests

someone tell me how many true wests juniors are playing for brett in the nsw cup and vise versa?

Wake up guys how successful was either club before they joined.

Tiger4ever you sound like you suffer from small mans syndrome fulton was captain of wests grand final winning sg ball team.great work by wests to take an unknown from the best junior comp in the world over to wests wouldnt you say great work magpies.

Its interesting how all Balmain fans don't seem to mind the idea of a single NSW Cup side named the Wests Tigers but Wests Magpies fans are concerned.

Why would that be?

could it be that "Tigers" fans know they get the better deal out of it than us from the "Wests" side of the fence?

Did i say it should be balmain im saying it should be 1 team the west tigers dont twist it around your the one that started this thread as usual.

Small mans syndrome lol nice one yeah.No im not small and not a fat heap either. He played all his junior footy in the parramatta area and yes he did play for you guys in sg ball BUT BEFORE THAT THE PARRAMATTA AREA.

Look ive had enough of this crap wests if it wasnt for balmain wouldnt be in the comp

Balmain could go it on their own if they wanted to with harrys help and once again wests would be able to do what they do best win wooden spoons if you would like that.GO AND WATCH THE MAGGIES GETTING BEAT 40 NIL HALF TIME.

Wests would no longer exist like norths and newtown if it wasnt for balmain how many times do we have to go over this. But in saying that im glad we did cause now we are a stronger club.

Tell me go over the forum and see how many of these threads and see who that person supports it always been the wests side get over it we had more legs to stand on when we merged we should be the big brother.

How many wests players play for balamain in nsw cup to make you guys have abig cry about.Iasked that nobodys answers it.lol

Should be both teams -and before the Maggies decide they want to cause some friction they should remember that Balmain is the senior partner in the WestsTigers - just like Manly were in the Northern Eagles ( oops , what happened there?)

I think its an embarrassment seeing my once great team running around in a competition known as the State Cup …...... could never imagine St.George doing that if ever they were tossed out of the comp.

When the joint venture came about, this was the one big hope I had to follow a competitive footy team ....... and now I have it in the Wests Tigers and I am very grateful.

I'm happy for the Maggies to field teams in the kiddies competition in the Macarthur Region but would much prefer to see them join with Balmain/Ryde in the state cup or just pull up stumps. Its such a low competition that seeing Wests running around ........ it just belittles a once great club. The more they align themselves with the Wests Tigers brand the more successful they will be as they are the way of the future.

Well said Knuckles…
Seems people still look at Wests Tigers as a joint venture hense the endless "Us and Them" Arguements.
Wests Tigers has been around long enough to be known as It's own Identity. I'm all for honoring the rich history of both clubs, But dwelling on it and trying to ressurect said teams in any way, shape or form is simply pointless!!
ALL CLUBS farm from more than one area/division... (Maybe we should start a team called the Keebra Park Magpies.. We're getting a few players through from up there as well??) I'm happy for the Maggies and The Tiges to run around in the lower comps. But I'm ALL IN for the best interests of the Wests Tigers!! To remotely suggest it is in the best interests of Wests Tigers to have their fringe/returning from injury players train with each other 48 weeks a year then smack the BaJesus out of each other on the weekend it ABSURD!!

Mate i totally agree i wish i could have put it that way myself.

Thanks for the sanity knuckles…...i havent and would never start a post like this and the ones that do need to wake up..... i just want whats best for wests tigers.

We have 2 teams in a comp that doesnt field all nrl teams a second rate reserve grade comp and we have balmain and west struggling it doesnt make sense its money that could be better spent in mnay other areas of the football club.

balmain are not the senior partner you peanut. our joint venture is 50/50\. you and tiger4ever need to wake up :bash

HAHA we know who the peanut is alien.Read what i been saying i never said we were the senior partner it is 50-50.Its the wests side only that makes these threads and you use to as well and now you must of come to your senses.

In all this i have not called anyone names or put them down unlike a few….. go through it you will see who the peanuts are probably mates you sit with.

What cq might of been saying is we were the senior partner when they were cutting teams and when we first joined as we didnt need to merge to survive in the short term.

This is about people whinging about a few so called wests juniors playing for balmain and nobody has answered how many they referring to im waiting to have a good laugh.

See even now your biast..... who needs to wake up.

What are these other codes proposing to place teams playing in a higher standard comp than the Campbelltown Eagles? 1st grade rugby? Nope last I checked lower grade subbies was as good as it gets.

Just to clarify, Campbelltown plays first division in NSW Suburban rugby (same level as Drummoyne) which is one level below Sydney grade. Campbelltown is required to have 5 grades plus a colts team. The club/area was actually identified by the NSWRU a few years back as a potential growth zone for the game and Campbelltown's progress would be followed with interest. I don't know where this "interest" currently lies, but given the AFL has now targeted the area, I can see why rugby was also interested.

In any case, it is always good to open the old wounds and maybe inflict some new ones on each other. Tell me, who doesn't love these discussions?? Categorically, anyone who states that either Wests or Balmain is senior or that either could go it alone is just idiotic. The relationship is symbiont with both clubs bringing complementary values and assets to the table. The only difference is that the Balmain half of the WT board has been unified, whereas the Wests Group rarely agree on anything together. Their 6 votes are split.

Anyway, here is my two cents worth on resolving the NSW Cup problem:

- NRL introduces a reserve grade competition
- Merge the two teams into Wests Tigers
- Subject to finances, stop playing at the SFS and start to utilise the excellent stadium Campbelltown has to offer
- Upgrade Leichhardt Oval

I was under the impression that Balmain held the franchise if the merger imploded.
Just as St George does and Manly did.
Can anyone confirm or expand on that?
