‘SERIOUSLY, WHAT IS DALEY’S OBSESSION WITH FARAH?

Written by MARTIN LENEHAN , June 9, 2016
How many Sharks does it take to devour the Cane Toads?

That’s the question Laurie Daley must be asking himself in the lead-up to the Blues’ do-or-die trip to Brisbane for Origin Two.

He took three Sharks into battle in Game One and came away empty handed.

With the series on the line, Daley needs to double that quota and throw Jack Bird, Wade Graham and Michael Ennis in with Paul Gallen, Andrew Fifita and James Maloney. Yep, six Sharks. That’s how many Daley needs and he needs them now.

One of the key factors behind Queensland’s decade of Origin dominance has been the combinations of Broncos, Storm and Cowboys players. In Game One the Maroons had six Broncos, four Cowboys and the dynamic Storm duo of Smith and Cronk. That’s 12 of their 17 from three of the NRL’s most dominant clubs.

The Blues’ biggest representation in Game One came from the Sharks and Bulldogs with three each while the Panthers, Roosters and Wests Tigers had two each.

With the Sharks riding high on top of the table and so many of their players in irresistible form, why would Daley ignore them?

Wade Graham should waltz in to the back row vacated by Boyd Cordner while Jack Bird would offer far more off the bench than poor old Dylan Walker, who was given just nine minutes in Origin One, making him basically a wasted selection.

And that brings us to Ennis, who is playing the best footy of his career and leading Cronulla around the park superbly.

For reasons known only to himself, Daley seems obsessed with having Robbie Farah in his side, despite the fact his own club coach struggles to find a place for him in a side which has won just five games all season.

Sure, there’s bad blood between Farah and Jason Taylor but the veteran hooker hasn’t exactly stood out for the Tigers when he has been on the paddock. And his Game One performance for NSW wasn’t exactly spectacular.

He failed to spark the team in the second half when they so badly needed a try to put a scare into the Maroons and bring the Blues faithful into the game.

As the minutes ticked by and the Maroons defended for their lives the Blues still refused to take risks and in the end they paid the price for being too predictable.

Ennis has far more to offer in attack than Farah and has the potential to put a few Maroons off their game with his in-your-face aggression.

Ennis really stunk it up at origin, maybe Daley can remember those wonderful games Ennis played, including the biggest ever loss by the blues in game 3 last year.
Farah might not be the answer for NSW, but Ennis sure as hell is not the answer either.

This is Farah's last go at Origin there are a few up and comers that should be ready for selection next season, Daley's view on coaching is all wrong selection should be made on form not this garbage about being Origin that is for the fairy's hence why NSW are always playing catch up ..the team is an extension of Daley BORING.

If Robbie is sacked after the next origin because we lose the worst possible option would be Ennis. He has been a disaster at that level. They should blood a younger player for the future

Robbie was generally assessed blues second best player in Origin 1, after Reynolds. He does not deserve to be dropped. NSW lost because they had no penetration in the backs.

At club level he is playing with 'one hand tied behind his back' as the coach has told him to play a running game and not kick.

Maybe they just like comparing noses ??

Daley's another knob who somehow fell into a dream job IMO .

Some of Robbies service was rubbish in Origin…. But he played OK.
Either way he is nowhere near the form NSW Hooker atm....
Hate to say it but Ennis is streaks ahead this season

He didn't pick him for years and picked other dropkicks instead, then all of a sudden picks him and he makes a bunch of tackles now Daley is staying loyal.
Daley likes the gronk players (Gidley).

Farah is a gronk.
Daley & Farah are lovers.

pretty sure boyd cordner won the player's player, followed by maloney and jackson.

anyway, ennis deserves to be miles ahead of farah based on last couple of years but farah hasn't let the team down in origin.

The first game a week ago was very close, all NSW were missing were a Jarryd Hayne or Tedesco to carve them up from the back line. Oh and also a more consistent goal kicker - even our mate Mitch Moses would have kicked that missed goal last week.

I just can't understand the NSW selectors. For years Farah was the man for the job and they overlooked him. Now he is in, he will never be dropped.

Farah isn't setting the world on fire but NSW don't have great hookers at the moment. Having said that, I think Ennis is more suited to Origin so despite his poor performances I'd probably have him. Peats is not quite there yet….

Anyway, if Daley doesn't pick Tedesco for game two then he is a fair dinkum moron.

He needs both Farah & Ennis if he is going to win the series, but if NSW lose game 2 I'd bring in Peats off the bench for a run to see how he handles the pace of the game.

Please, Ennis the grub is playing behind a much better pack than Farah. as quoted by Daley!
Its much easier to be playing well by a monster pack. How did Ennis go in game 3 last season?????? Again it wasn't all his fault, but my point is the same without the dominant pack he isn't that special!!
2\. Ennis had his go last season to show us what he's got, nothing! He had his chances before 1 he hit a guy and ran behind one of his own players and hid, 2 didn't he give away a penalty late in a game and cost us the origin?
3\. Farah played well in his game this year and the two last season.
4\. He almost single handle won us game 2 and the series for the first time in 10 years. Watch the game his kick chase was fantastic, he was smashing cherry-evans all night.
The reasons above is why Daley continues to pick him. And I admire him for his loyalty, pity people in this club cant do the same?!?
P.s The great Cameron the salary cheat Smith didn't wow everyone this year in the first SOO, but no one is slamming him, typical!!!
Give him a break…. :deadhorse: :brick:

Farah's last year of Origin. He deserves to play all 3 games. But I would definitely be interchanging him. Walker was a wasted bench spot anyway. We need a utility/2nd rower that can fill in at hooker for 15 minutes either side of half time. I wouldn't have two specialist hookers. Someone like Bryce Cartwright or Tyrone Peache. Yeah maybe even one of Greg or Jack Bird.
