What is wrong with our attack?

I think we have no game plan for starters.and then we have a halfback with no confidence and awful decision making. We also have no players who can beat their opponent one on one and very few who can offload

I think we have a game plan, just not the cattle to execute it.

Yeah we scored 28 points but deadset we could have scored 50 the amount of sets we had on their line.

I don't wanna hear that the defense needs to improve. We get down the other end every game, get quick enough play the balls, 6 agains, penalties and spend lots of time in the opposition 20.

Why are we not capitalising?

Very simple - general lack of depth of runners when attacking. We don't use enough change of direction (good line running) in attack, and we don't play with enough support and numbers in attack. Makes it too predictable for the opposition to defend against.

Our attack has become "pass it to Doueihi".

When we're in the opposition 20, Liddle or Simpkin almost always pass it to the half, there is no deception, no forwards running onto the ball at speed. We're slow motion, until we pass it to AD who is expected to create something out of nothing.

Doueihi is a one man band ..

Laurie is a beaut as well

Hooker still an issue as is the half

Brooks is terrible. But geez madge has to be equally as responsible. 9 weeks in and every game we have been standing flat, walking onto the ball and 1 out runs. How has this not be rectified by 9 rounds?

Quote of the season!
I like Madge but his unyielding commitment to Brooks every week is yielding zip zero zilch and will kill his coaching career before the season’s out ... time to play ‘spin the bottle’ and select whoever it lands on, hopefully Madden or someone who can think on their feet.
Brooks and Mr Pink Tights are so disruptive to every single aspect of our plays.

Then it's a crap gameplan. In attack and defence.

The players certainly look utterly clueless on the field the majority of the time.

They cannnot be listening to the coach or if they are he is not coaching them properly,it can’t be both

Our inside 20m attack is so easy to read:
A couple of forwards at the posts
Brooks short ball to Garner
Doueihi cut out ball to the wing
Occasional grubbed straight into the legs or touch in goal
If we have it on the last chip bomb to no one in particular

Our pathetic attack is the major factor our defence is rooted as well. With the attack flat and everyone walking on to the ball, we are not taking any petrol out of the opposition when they are defending. As a result they are steaming on to it when they get the ball

It's hard to feel sorry for Madge and the club overall, when they've continually kept Brooks in first grade. When I heard the Titans had dropped Ash Taylor, I knew we would lose. I thought, "we would never drop Brooks."

Why? He has been under performing for years. Also, eyes need to start turning towards Madge. Conceding tries off kickoffs, playing with absolutely no energy, letting in 3 tries in 10 minutes, looking gassed within minutes. I don't remember us being this bad under Cleary. He had us firing, and dare I say it, improving.

If we insist on playing flat (which does my head in), we need short, sharp balls, with bodies in motion providing options on the inside and out.

Luke Brooks. Starts and ends there.
We have no structure because he has no idea what he's doing.

Yep
We have no shape whatsoever

Yep and that puts pressure on the rest of the team. Nobody seems to know who is getting the ball. Brooks seems to just make up his mind on the spot.

And it’s the wrong option most of the time ..

Yep, between the poor options, the poor kid king game and the poor direction and leadership I'm not sure what he's supposed to be offering. Even his running game has been crap lately.

Nailed it,,, it is painfully obvious that this is the problem... he doesn’t seem to have instinct or to be able to steer the team around, he never has and we have not made the finals since he debuted. This is not coincidence but the result!

Now you know why Brooks was the first one to sign a contract extension out of the big four!

Fear of missing out on a contract.

We have no defence structure.
It just does not matter if our attack is good or poor ..... if we don’t effectively and enthusiastically approach our defence we are cooked .... and we are.
That for me is the key disappointment about this season.
Defence has fallen apart over and over again.
After nine rounds the coaching staff can’t fix that .... then that’s it for me.

You gain confidence from a solid defence. Build your confidence and the attack should flow.

You need both. We don't have either.

We dont draw any defenders in the middle, especially one L Brooks. We pass out the back without ever engaging the line. They can just slide as they never need to plant their feet.

If he would start taking it to the line, then throwing it out the back space will open up on the edges.
