What is wrong with our attack?

We score 28 points but concede 36...

So we question our attack?

Hey why dont we score every time we get close to the other teams line. Why do we need to Build pressure. Surely other teams dont defend?

We conceded 3 tries in the opening 20. We fought on and made the scoreline close. We got grit, just need to be awake when the game starts.

Luke Brooks. Starts and ends there.
We have no structure because he has no idea what he's doing.

Yep
We have no shape whatsoever

Yep and that puts pressure on the rest of the team. Nobody seems to know who is getting the ball. Brooks seems to just make up his mind on the spot.

You hit the nail on the head, but I dont know if that is all Brooks fault. We have no depth, barely anyone in motion, and if we do its one man out rubbish.
Not backing Brooks, but if you want him to read the line and put players into holes, they need to be running into them. We hate on him for not picking good options, but even if he was playing eyes up, he needs to be able to expect the runners to be there.
We are not giving our playmakers much. Doueihi looks like a god because he does it all himself. Its rubbish

Great points, and then Garner does run a line into a hole, Brooks hits him in the middle of the chest and because Braiff bags him, many here pile on as well.

Can’t believe how many people couldn’t see that Garner was too slow to react and ran the wrong line, sure Brooks probably shouldn’t of followed through with the pass but Blyme we have a dumb football side. Why? as a forward would you ever want to receive a ball flat footed, just should be screaming at that hole and if the ball doesn’t get passed too you, so what you’ve still done your job.
I would hope most of the forum would get an appreciation for the amount of ball playing our halves have to do just to get their forwards into those gaps. Because they certainly don’t run in them on their own.

That bloke loves to have a dig at Brooks any chance he gets. Everything Brooks touched was “poor” but Doueihis attempts at 40/20s that we’re going out on opponents 30 were “Great kicks!”
Pretty sure even the other commentator pulled him up on it.

WE NEED TO FIX OUR DEFENCE. that's all, pure and simple, if we do that we win games:expressionless:

We are playing much too flat but we also play with little intent or speed, we need to run harder, hit harder and attack with speed. The first set after halftime is how we should be playing all the time.

Our attack lacks harmonic motion.

Yes. it doesn't exactly flow.

A lot of that comes down to Doueihi's running style, he is playing well in attack but he has a very awkward running style that makes it difficult to time your runs off him. That and the flat attack make it a very stop start sort of movement across our backline.

We have an average 6 and 7. Neither are consistent kickers.

Neither of our nines can kick.

Agree. It looks like they’ve been given instruction for Brooks to give Doueihi clean ball who breaks the line. I think they would be better off with a Rabbitohs style backline sweep to put wingers over?

He is playing quite well in attack, it is just never going to be a fluid backline with him as a 5/8th.

Once upon a time we used to start off well, getting all our tries in the first 20 m, now we leave it till the end of the game and it's too late....our defence is what is lacking:disappointed:

I don't want to death ride Brooks but he does need to spend time in reserves for two reasons.

The first is to see if he can build confidence/ motivation to get back into firsts. Good for us if he does - if not, the door awaits as the definition of stupidity is failing and then just doing the same over and over again.

The second is the season is basically cooked so once again it is time to plan for the future 😢 . We need to see if Madden can offer anything or we need to get our shopping trolley out.

I agree, Doueihi has been playing well in attack, and he justifiably attracts some attention for it, just saying we could mix it up by giving clean ball to the 3 players who are breaking the line and breaking tackles. Namely, Nofa, Brooks and Laurie?

Liddle has to be on the bench at the very least. I'm not sure what I was expecting from Simpkins after all the talk, but at this point he is not delivering it. I don't think either are effective for 80. If Brooks gets dropped for Madden we are weakened significantly defensively so the question is will he bring enough in attack to justify that. For Maguire he will wear the teams inability to deliver and not sure how much longer he has got but believe that no coach could get this current lot much further than where they are placed - the team can't play 80 mins at this point with a nucleus of young developing players with no true leaders. Individually I see positives in Douehi Laurie, Stefano, Mikaele, Talau, and believe they will continue to get better- if they stick.

No argument here mate, that is something I actually think Madden could bring to the team as he does give early ball.

The funniest thing with out attack is we addressed the speed issue signing Roberts on a cheap contract and never gave him clean ball at any stage through the year. Last night we have BJ creating problems and scoring a try in the first half and he received the ball ONCE in the second half in attacking position. The only other time he touched it was going in to do hit ups. The Titans looked dangerous whenever they spread the ball, we looked like headless chooks. Our depth is appalling and sorry for the AD lovers, but that falls on him, not Brooks.

You could pluck someone out of the crowd to play in the centres for us in attack with the amount of ball they get.

Yep love Douehi but he is starving his outside men.

He is one of our better player but I don't know if his style of play makes those around him better.
