Many on this forum seem to be casting around for explanations about why we have been so average/bad for so long. If we just hire this prop, that coach, this center, that fullback etc etc etc we will find the end of the rainbow.
Others seem happy to trust in management that a positive change will suddenly appear like a rabbit out of a hat.
My only explanation is that the club doesn't seem able to stick to a plan,or follow a selected course to its finish. The club appears to me to be unstable at its core which then filters out to its extremities, the coach and players. Other than that I'm as confused as anyone.
I got no idea, but I'm not happy with what I'm seeing at the moment.

Maybe for you. For me it’s the biggest issue since our baby was born. In 05 I was celebrating up and down the highway. CSS LO Balmain Ashfield Camp Leagues. 2 beers and some at every location. Bloody idiot. No cops lucky.
 
Why is it the pandas have large head cut outs of their stars at games,
and we don’t .
Fellas Gals we need Pascoes at games.

What you have overlooked is the WTs' catchment. With Redcliffe entering the competition, clubs like the Roosters, Storm and others are going to be squeezed to identify talent. We are getting our house in order and that will provide a huge advantage over more powerful teams.

Like others have alluded to, we're not really privy to the inner workings of the club and can't really make too many comments around this.

So going from that and some of what others have suggested, we've lacked a capable response team to handle crisis management and communications (PR and branding).
We've had poor recruitment and retention officers.
Coaches who are unqualified for the team's needs, not to mistake with uncredentialed but rather coaches who have either been too overwhelmed or simply ill equipped to bring innovative solutions to the Wests Tigers - helping the team develop practical skills for the current (and future) game and building a competitive roster.
I believe over the past decade we've also lacked the right governance structures.
That we've never had a leader that can steer the ship but is also accomplished and stern enough to have everyone in the organisation moving in the same direction. Someone who oversees all standards and practices - to ensure we remain competitive.

This guy has been really successful. I'll give that a listen. It's a shame it's so long.

One thing I'll add though is that the owners have big pockets. This is something you see all the time in professional sport. I think that is the no 1 reason we haven't performed.

It's not just money but money improves your recruitment and retention. The NBA has a cap as well and the GSW pay a fortune for their top players so the key is recruiting around those players.

Basketball is also a little different to rugby league in that key players in basketball are more influential to the results than in league.
 
I wonder if having multiple home grounds can also add to the list of issues the club has faced.

In a way I still think th Grand Final win in 2005 in hindsight did more harm than good as it only covered up the cracks and never dealt with the core issues in the club.

Sheens, Marshall and Farah are legends of our club and share a special place in our hearts but I don't think their current involvement in the club will end well. I hope I am wrong.

The only way I'd consider this a reason is when we consistently win at home. We don't do this so therefore the ground doesn't make much difference.

I ground dosent make a difference are you serious.
Its a must.

With all due respect, I was implying the club signing Korisau and Papalii is better recruitment than say a Godinet, McIllwrick or Ballin and MCK, McQueen or Robbie Rochow.
That depending on the scraps and discards of other teams to fill your roster, is poor succession planning.
Don't see how improving either is a step backwards. Which is all I approved of in response to @Masterton - in the comment you've replied to.
Agree that the stronger clubs don't sit back and wait for changes to take effect.
If plans are becoming an abysmal failure, they don't stupidly persist with them (in effort to fulfill it) but rather modify and adapt. Basically correcting the course of their plans and assigning more adequate resources (players, coaches ).

It's specifically why I used the word if, because some goals and objectives that we've outlined over the past 5 years were highly unrealistic due to those two factors I've mentioned - as they are vital for us to successfully execute any plan.
 
We will never attract any top coach, elite players or a move up the ladder until we have ONE home ground.
As the saying goes , home is where the heart is.
until then we’ll remain on life support
 
We have really bad/average players in every position. Maumalo/Joe O/Brooks/Laurie/Nofa/Seyfarth, Garnert/Tuilagi/Tamou/Twal no hooker, no speed, no strength

etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

This is because we are a loser club with a loser reputation thus we have losers in all levels of the club.

Also Brooks isn't being held back by the club, he is part of the reason why we suck. He's the EXACT type of player we can attract, which is why he'll end up at Newy or the Dolphins, two other very average teams.

Look at it this way - our home games hardly give us any advantage. There is no reason at all to believe that one home ground would make any difference.

The facts are the facts.

I understand and appreciate the point you were making I just believe those are pretty big ifs.

I agree the signings of Api and papalii and the best in a long time however it’s what we’ve signed around them that concerns me.
