What the hell? Looks like someone in admin screwed up!

So two juniors who have been part of the junior system for over 10 years do not qualify for this exemption. Another ridiculous decision and rule by the laughing stock of world sport known to us as the NRL. Wake up to yourself Gallop.

Staks - more GR8 commonsense from you!!

I shake my head too.
How can this rule be fair?
What incentive is there for clubs to have nurtured juniors?
Fans would go crazy trying to fathom this decision?

Just why should a penalty apply at all, the kids have grown into 1st graders through the club's developmemt programme and then it "costs more" as they then stay with their clubs!!

Get rid of the power-crazy so called NRL admin who have certified this disgrace - NOW!

And bring on the independent commission NOW - our game needs visionaries, not wannabies!!

Maybe we should reluctantly release Fitzy (sarcasm intended) that has to be worth at least 60k

He is on match payments so won't make any difference.

Who cares, release him anyway, then we will save on his match payments, and he won't be at the club.

I guess those at the club care?

Who would be your new man then if he was to be released?

I'd happily put Pritchard on the wing, although under this scenario, it's probably unlikely to happen if his contract has bonuses for playing FG tied in.

Sounds like the decision was made simply because of precedent. God knows why they set that precedent in the first place though.

Exactly….seems this bit has been glossed over to take pot shots at Fitzy...

Other unpalatable alternatives include asking players to defer a component of their salary, cutting back on match payments or **not starting players who have a bonus tied to making a specific number of NRL appearances this year.**

Far out,,,,if only we could cheat better. :brick:

How can Farah, Marshall, Fulton, Gibbs, Heigno, soon to be Lawrence, Moltzen not get some short of incentive to stay loyal….

Gallop listen to reason ,,,,,who am I kidding though....News got their man....

The reality is that Tuiakis injury may get us out of this mess.

I was under the impression that if a player sits the entireity of a season out than there is cap relief available.

Now weighing up his return date it is possible that he would not be back until late in the year. If that is the case run him in State Cup for fitness and have him ready for next season if he is re-signed.

Realistically if his return is late than he will have limited bearing on our prescence in the 8 etc

Obviously not considering most clubs have a coaching staff in excess of 6 these days

How do you know he is just on match payments?
Im not having a go at you, it just seems strange to me that a guy who constantly gets picked in our top 17 would not be on some sort of base contract rather than just match payments.

What i don't understand is this. Fair enough if there is precedence but does Gallop not see that there is a problem here? When there are problems your rectify them! That's common sense i would've thought? Gallop's always lacked vision for the game in my opinion.

If it's money thats the problem then fair enough but why wait till we have money, we should be looking to move forward now so that when we do have the money(in 2013 hopefully), we can act right away.

Surely we haven't spent our full cap given our failed bid for Lima. So there should be some wiggle room.
Plus, I saw something today that the NRL might be raising their cap by $50k this year. So, hopefully, we won't have to offload anybody.

It's the years after that I'm concerned about. Gallop seriously has to get his act together. Ridiculous ruling considering it seems like these boys would have been exempt if they went through State Cup, instead of straight from Flegg to First Grade. (Going from the telegraph article)

What a disgrace it is to hold a kid, who is just dedicated and has the ability to playing first grade football, back for those reasons. Is it any wonder the young aspiring players are dropping out of the game.
The structure of Rugby League is a deterrent to these players progressing. The game needs a complete overhaul as it is going backwards despite the spin that Gallop and his crew put on it. If the game is going as well as they say it is why are the clubs struggling to keep viable.

Pritchards use would not constitute the use of the main salary cap. It would be in the second tier cap. Nothing to do with these current issues at hand

WT just cant cut 2 players in reality it would have to be 4 players or one superstar on about 250k, and no this has nothing to do with team selections or match payments, we gone over the cap because the club assumed it would be able to claim the 100k, so there is no excuse for sheens poor team selections, id say the club will just get a fine by the nrl, they wont release any players

im pretty sure its 16 rounds smeg not even the whole season for that cap consession to be activated

Well thats a realistic possibility of occuring by the reports of his injury. So hopefully it nullifies this issue, the lesson is learnt and we move on

Are you guessing about this fine or is Humphreys telling Porkies again…

Humphreys refused to detail how the club will slice $100,000 from its spend and comply with the cap this season. But it's understood releasing players it would otherwise want to keep is a definite option.

"I must say we were given a long and fair hearing by the NRL, but we remain bitterly disappointed," Humphreys said. "The experience has highlighted a fundamental flaw in the interpretation of the rules.

The Club needs to slice 100K from the Salary Cap for this year to remain compliant according to Gallop....

Gallop last night said he was unable to offer the Tigers any dispensation out of fairness to other clubs that had previously applied - unsuccessfully - on the same basis.
>
"No club has been able to count Jersey Flegg to date and we are simply being consistent in that area," he said.
>
"To change that ruling in the case of **Wests Tigers would be to disadvantage other clubs who have not been able to use Jersey Flegg in the past.**"

No excusses all unpalatable options...

See Wests Tigers disadvantage the likes of the Storm, Roosters, Sharkies, St George (not Illawarra) Cowgirls cause we actually develop our Juniors....

Iron Tiger after we missed out on Lima cause the Storm found some extra Dough...the Club upgraded and extended the likes of Moltzen, Lui, Ayshford and Keith.....
