Our recruitment over next 8 months will either make or break us.
In short term we can’t expect anything too much from our younger brigade …. They are still at least about season and a half away from producing what we need locally.
So we need to be ruthless as far as our end season assessments of players performance. Sheens will help with that I’m sure. No more second or third chances for non performers.
We definitely need experienced mongrel in second row and creativity in ball playing lock forward positions.
Hastings and Brooks lock into the halves and the fact that some of our younger forwards have a season of experience in the bank will/ should help.
That’s my assessment anyway.

Great post, it's a professional game. The have had enough time to show their value. The Bellamys, Robinsons etc constantly improve their rosters. We hang on to rubbish for too long.

Biggest issue is still the playing roster

Many of these blokes aren't up to it

Just hoping we use this 2.2 + million gift card well , or we will see more painful years as supporters

I reckon Madge and Hartigan have shown immense patience with our signings so I'm confident we'll spend the money well. We've missed out on a few, but I haven't seen any signings where I've gone "what the hell??".

The other thing is they have given themselves room for error by offering shorter contracts which mitigates the cap damage if a player is a complete flop.

I think we need to find some big upsizes ...we have to find a quality back rower ...and Cordner's retirement made it that much harder now

That’s a good point. Even before Cordners retirement my concern has been being able to spend the money on upgrades and there’s a few clubs all hitting the market cashed up around the same time. Every time a post here raises how much money We saved on a signing I kind of cringe a bit (despite post being totally logical) as I fear we’re going to struggle use it on quality upgrades that want to come here.

Re.- Gildart. I was never happy with many of Madges buys,but Hartigan has done well. Nobody can be right all the time, and all clubs have bought duds at times. JO has been solid, Tamou, not exceptional but handy, Laurie good, JTJ min money, Joey l dissapointing and soon gone. So far no big money spent on old or bad players, and a roster of very talented forwards who have not reached their peak.
Gildart is not just a centre, he is an international centre. To bring a player from super league is costly, Hastings and ex tigers players would have been cosulted on his form as well as hartgan spending many hrs looking at videos.
We deperately need strike out wide and there is little in the marketplace, lets give him a chance, .
Brooks,and Hastings at halves, Gildart and another quality back, plus an aggressive forward and 2022 is looking good.

The whole problem with this team is 6/7/3/4 ..the forwards are not the problem ,the only player that would be there would be Brooks as for AD he is nowhere near good enough to hold one of those spots ..sorry if this aggrieves some but honesty has to start somewhere.
Fill these 3 spots with top line players you have a top 6 side Imo.

Urgh !!!!!!!! Everyone was singing thier praises as recent as Sunday 3.59 . And we lose to a referee momentum fest , and you want to blame them again .
If you cop that penalty count , in 2021 , that’s the score line you receive . And the whole comp is geared towards the eels and panthers playing the GF . Just like it was geared towards the cowboys after they were screwed 3 years in a row , the Rabbitohs, the year they won it , the sharks the year they won it , and the roosters the year SBW came back and was good .
It’s not deliberate , but just unconscious bias .
I don’t even think the storm and Rabbitohs get it . They’re just better than everyone .
I also think the eels are the worst team in football for referee manipulation. Way worse than the storm and the storm are the poster child of this . Constant clutching heads , kicking out when no one is on them , lying down at the slightest touch / diving . It’s so frequent and constant it has to be coached .
Which is disgusting . And because we want to belt them because of the parasites who wear thier jersey like Moses , Gutho , Matterson and Brown , we get sucked in more than most .

Demps, we may not have the cattle but we are not building people up.
The only players I have seen lift since coming here are Joe O and Alex Twal.

Roosters, Melbourne, Parra take in rejects and they lift. We take people in and they go down.
