It's a tough one. It's arguable that Liddle was ready for first grade when he debuted, but it's also a fact his body didn't stand up to those first few seasons. Set Liddle back a long way, not specifically anyone's fault but that's how it turned out, and we don't want a repeat with Simpkin.

What I will say about Simpkin however is he is advantaged by his physique, because he is much more of a classic stocky hooker frame, reminds me of Steve Walters, all arse and square. One of the reasons also why Luke Brooks is such an effective front-on defender, because there's that core size and stability when making driving tackles.

Is that what happened to Luke Brooks because he debuted at 18? There are a few players with less than a dozen games on their resume. Some of whom are playing good footy. Stefano eg. who just maybe building to have a blinder against his old club?

My point is it is entirely different physical test in the middle at 9 to fullback. I used to be a FB and played a few games towards the end at 9 (Im not a big bloke). Its a massive aerobic test and you get belted on kick returns but its a different animal to working in the middle.

TLDR...easier for a young kid to play FB to hooker.

Kinda like if someone makes a mistake at training, the whole team has to do laps or push-ups.
Then it becomes more apparent he's letting his mates (or in this case his bro) down...
