What year did you start to support Wests Tigers?

I started in 2009, my first game ever was the 2010 prelim against St george. I've been to about 20-30 others since then.

I would think a majority, myself included, would be here since 2000.

Those younger fans on here will have obviously started later though

2003 - I was 9 now 21

Darren Senter, Mark O'Niell, Skando and Ben Galea came to Wagga Wagga (about 45 mins from where I grew up) for a little league clinic and they all signed a shirt that I had with me, WT supporter ever since!

Year 5 so about 7 years ago haha

I am not sure what the reason was tbh

It was either because the girl I liked at the time supported them or it was harmony day and I needed an orange shirt HAAHA but wow I have loved the club since.

From the start, though I admit I was a little tentative supporting the merger, at first - it just felt weird to me after 30 odd years of supporting a stand alone team. Took about 2-3 years to warm to the idea completely, then I became a fully fledged Wests Tigers tragic

I supported the WT since the merger, but started supporting the Tigers in about 85 or 86.

I switched teams as a young kid a few times before settling on the Tigers. My 2 grand fathers tried to convert me to their respective teams, one a Panthers fan the other a dogs fan. I went to the footy most weeks with either one of them and had a flag for each. I think because I didnt want to choose one over the other I picked another team, apparently briefly the eels (who the team of the day, but I dont remember supporting them), and I chose the Tigers for no real reason, the kid down the road liked them, not sure if that is why, could be. In this time I went to Its a knock out and Wayne Pearce was the guest referee, He saw me with a Tigers scarf and picked me up. Still my all time favourite player, he was a champ. That hooked me for life.
Ive actually been involved with 3 other clubs and am still a tigers fan, shows you how much a bit of love from a player can do.
My brother is a good story he supports Cronulla, he chose them because the first rep game he watched me play was against Cronulla, he started cheering for them. The lack of shark success I reckon is Karma!

2008 moved from england followed leeds rhinos in england ,started following wests tigers as soon as they signed gareth ellis try to get down for at least 2 games a year

Originally I was a Newtown supporter but they folded in 1983\. By that time I had been living in the Fivedock/Concord area and so I decided to follow the local NRL club Balmain. They merged with Western Suburbs to form Wests Tigers and my allegiance has continued with the new merger.

Great stuff guys!! I used to love wrestling and afl when I was young I was cheering during the 2005 afl gf and crying during the 2006 one…

to this day I hate the west coast eagles lol. My cousins and uncles used to love the dogs so I kinda went for them (ya know when ya don't follow the sport but follow a team anyway)

So one day i was at my cousins house and the dogs where vsing this orange team and I saw this Bloke with tribal tatoo, he was stepping all over the place and throwing 20 metre passes.

After that day I watched NRL more regularly and I really got to enjoy it I got into nrl more as I got older and supported the tigers ever since that day..

about 2010\. me and a few friends at school started to get into the fantasy side of the nrl and that lead to learning more players then just the stars. Learning the sides i was always interested to see who was signed by who and up and coming players, i think i just started to take note of everything i heard regarding the tigers and continued to support them from there. i always liked watching the tigers play as a young kid (it was always so exciting, but now when i look back on it as a supporter frustrating)

I started supporting the Tigers around 82-85 (7 - 10 Yrs old)

I come from a very large and parochial Dragons family. Tried the dogs and found Wayne, Benny, Blocker and Sirro.

The rest is History.

Now Im Breeding Tigers, Baby Tiger Number 5 is due in the next 72 hours.

Good luck with the impending birth Spartan. Haven't put the cue in the rack yet?

My mum reckons the reason I support the Tigers is because my dad brainwashed me, and she is probably right, but we both deny it. He is an ex-Balmain supporter and got me into footy at a young age, before the merger but I don't remember any of that. Didn't start supporting them massively until a couple of years prior to 05.

Day 1 for the Wests Tigers. Start of 1986 for the Balmain Tigers, swapping from the Eels as one of my rare acts of teenage rebellion.

It's good to see the number of people who have come on board since 2000\. The question of whether you were from the Wests side or Balmain side of the merger is gradually becoming redundant.

1st game of football i ever watched was the tigers and souths in the 1969 grandfinal we had just come from Ireland, every one said tigers would get smashed, so i went for the underdog and have been a tigers fan ever since, so is my two sons and my grandkids.

Followed Balmain from about 1970 ,moved over to the joint venture in 2000, can't see anything changing ever, but a frustrating team to follow

Was a Balmain Boy all my life, from 8yrs old, untill the merger and have stuck with them since 2000 and have never looked back…

I quite often told my mates who took the p...s out of me for following a merged team, I would rather follow half a team in the NRL than none...in all honesty WESTS TIGERS is the best ever merger I would ever want to follow,no other team interests me...

1999 when the joint venture was announced, I remember writing to the Telegraph at the time suggesting that Terry Lamb should be the inaugural coach….....................
P.S. still have my T-Shirt following the announcement, Top Heavy made it!.
