Whats Teddy worth ??

I don't know how much Tedesco is worth, but his price went up by $50k between the trials and round 2, and probably by even more after the club saw how we fell apart in his absence last week.

Rowdy is on $350k a year.

Punt rowdy, give him his $$$$. And throw another 50-100k on top… I will be happy with both results.

What I find most amusing is that if the salary cap was in any way working, then our offer would be taken into account vs. those bidding against us as within the cap space (plus allowances we have available), otherwise by the book it is up to Ayoub to procure the third party deals to fluff the price, supposedly not dependant of where he plays to boot…

So really, it is a failure on Ayoubs part that the deal is where it is. The guy wants to shirk his responsibility and accountability in the situation...

They should put it on him at the next meeting Teddy is in tow, and rock up with some NRL deligates on our board to ram it home by the numbers making sure James is well aware of the inept management he has.

Further to take care of this situation we need to align someone who is a reistered manager and feed them with leads to soft sponsors who can top up our players. That way germs who try play us can be munched up and spit out... imagine having players up for contract and jumping managers to find the best deal in our intrest... surely it cannot be legal though.
 
If he keeps playing well and hits his potential in the coming years..
2015: 450k
2016: 500k
2017: 600k
2018: 700k
= 2.25mil

The club has no money to support itself and its day to day running costs…the players salary comes from the salary cap figure given to the clubs by the NRL....its the same amount given to all clubs....
 
Realistically given this is his 2nd year in the NRL:

2015: 340k
2016: 400k
2017: 480k
2018: 580k
= 1.8m

There should be performance achievements attached to these numbers too. If he wants more I suggest he go elsewhere!

We didn't lose last week because Teddy went off… We lost last week because we failed to adjust.

One player might make things work better, but one player does not make a team.

I'd suggest Teddy is worth $300-$400k

I don't understand how we don't have money I thought the money comes from the nrl and everyone has the same amount in a salary cap. Im sure we have heaps of cash to spend since theres players off contract we didn't re sign yet.
 
To be brutally honest Tedesco played well towards the back end of the 2013 season and has played a couple of excellent games this year. Does that make him a player that demands $500k plus a year? IMO it doesn't, obviously I would love to resign him like everyone else does but at huge overs? If we start paying massive overs it hinders future retention of other players, like your Nofo's, Simona, Sue and the list goes on. A fair contract over four years starting at the $375k mark with built in performance indicators for rep selection ect, going to $425k second year, $475k third year, $525k fourth year.

Equals a $1.8m deal. Which i believe is a more than fair contract for a 21 year old technically in his second full first grade season, who still at this stage is yet to play state of origin ect. I am by no means bagging Tedesco, and more than likely he will go on to represent new south wales in state of origin, but one has to look at the other contracts similar like , Chris Lawrence promised everything but by no fault of his own has done nothing due to injury, and is now taking a fair chunk of the cap and giving very little back to the team in way of performance.

I am a big believer in paying a player what they are worth, not what they could be worth. Of course with built in performance bonuses for what they could be worth IF they perform to a higher level than expected.

The conventional wisdom is that a team needs a great spine to be a force in the competition. If we retain Tedesco, we are three-quarters of the way to securing a great spine (even though it is a little inexperienced).

Given the importance of a great full back, I would be happy for the club to pay “overs” to retain Teddy. I don’t know what Teddy is worth, and I don’t know how much “overs” entails. But, within reason, paying extra to retain Teddy is justified in my view.

Some members have suggested that Teddy has only played a handful of great games and that, therefore, we shouldn’t get carried away and offer too much money at this stage.

I first heard of Teddy on this forum years ago, when we were told that he is a special talent coming through the juniors. I would argue that his recent performances have not come “out of the blue” but that he is reaching the potential that we were told he possessed. Certainly, he has played the way I expected him to play when he was fully fit. He is already a high-quality full back.

If we don’t retain Tedesco I will be gutted for two reasons.

The first is that we are losing an exceptionally talented junior to a rival team.

The second reason is that it would be a tacit admission from the team’s management that we don’t have the resources to secure a great spine and that, as a consequence, we will not be a serious contender in the premiership for the medium term.

The second reason would be particularly devastating. I, like all Tiger’s fans, live in hope of a better tomorrow for our team. If we lost Tedesco, that hope would be dashed, and we would be forced to face the reality that we will only be making up the numbers for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, that goes without saying. Maybe if we put Dave back to cover Teddy, he has a halfway decent game and a few dumb tries are saved.

More worrisome was our complete lack of spark in the backs in his absence. Between Anasta and our plodding centres, we looked very pedestrian. A fit Simona will help that at least. (And yeah, I know, hard for backs to shine if forwards are struggling).

Like I have said from day one..there is only one person to blame if Tedesco leaves and that is Grant Mayer.

Although James needs to do what is best for himself his decision has been made somewhat easier by Mayer not doing the right thing by James.

Mayer's decision to play this through the media at every opportunity is quite disgraceful and going on twitter asking fans what a player is worth is just down right unprofessional.

The longer this takes the higher Tedesco's value goes up and Mayer's value goes down.
 
money wise - i don't care. I don't measure a man/woman/ ngs by way of his/her/ ngs bank account.
What matters 2 me r premierships - & Teddy has at least 2 in him. At least 2\. And at least one in the black, white & gold jersey. The guy is a freak show.

Personally I think having a good fullback is more important now than any stage of the last 107 years of the game

Maybe more important than your 6 , 7 or 9

That's a fair statement, halves and hookers are so reliant on there fullbacks following their every move. Really hope that we keep Teddy offers everything you'd want at fullback.

really? halves are so much more scarce these days than FBs that i'd prefer a JT, cronk or joey in my team than a slater or GI.

but no doubt fullback's are so important with support play and chiming into the line in attack
