When you can't manage a game

The thing I struggle to understand is how last week we played a very expansive game with offloads and second phase play. Tonight we played extremely conservative, even to the point of taking 2 penalty goals when the opposition had 20minutes with only 12 men. It was mostly one out hit ups the whole game. I just don’t understand how you can go out with that game plan after seeing what happened the week before. It’s just baffling

You've got defensive issues when you can't number up when the opposition is a player short for 20 minutes

What happened to the blokes that v Dragons ..were pointing at attackers ...talking to each other ....communicating

If you come out of the line ...the bloke you are attacking should be asking how did a freight train get on to the field ....two weeks later after being in an induced coma while waiting for a new liver and kidney transplant ......seriously ....

Can't fault Brooksys game much today. Massive improvement.

However, we need to start a new chant

**PULL THE TRIGGER, BROOKSY**

Throw that long ball, do that short kick, do that flick pass. He can do it! I'd happily take a turnover due to him trying something new.

can... he do it? How many chances does a half get to prove this? He played well tonight, but don't act like the ability to ice a play and/or game is one of his abilities. It most likely isn't.

Who else was icing a play?

Um... no one, that's why we're in the bottom four and lost. I think he played well, but lets not act like he hasn't had 7 years to prove his worth in key moments, for example the last few minutes of tonight. It wasn't his fault we lost, but he didn't win us the game either. I don't think he's a clutch player at all. A decent half back in a good team, but not good enough to be pinning our hopes and dreams on him at the Tigers. We need more talent.

Yep ..just going through the motions most of them.

And that's the other thing ....Nofa very rarely reaches the bloke ...stay alive ...force them out wide ...make the kick harder ......give em 4 ...not 6 when he crosses unmarked with the closest defender sitting on the bench

What the bloody hell has happened to the old school rules of footy ..it seriously does my head in

Me too! Surely there are footballers out there somewhere ? You don’t even need to have an IQ above 80, just the hunger of a starving tiger.

My money is on Ronald because they obviously are taught not to talk in defence , no communication at all! ?

Brooks was excellent tonight. It was not game management that let us down (and I normally hammer them for that)

It was the absolutely ZERO FOOTY IQ of a number of our players.

Honestly, a few of them don't even know how to play the game. Athleticism has got them to the NRL, and no fundamentals.

100%

Brooks deserved to get a win for his performance.

Few flops in the team really earnt that loss though.

As king @hobbo1 said... ropeable.

Agreed... I was sort of eating humble pie because they did some plays with moving parts and looked like they were starting to click , but it was a complete devolution tonight. They went back to standing flat, not supporting the ball carrier and reverted to that stupid block play (like Daley’s blues origin team with Mitchell Pearce butchered in origin for 3 years) that was easily snuffed out) . I cannot work it out, Talau as woeful , Mbye lazy and Brooks predictable tonight but that doesn’t explain the sheer quantity of dumb predictable pedestrian football they served up to us tonight.... the halves just do zip , zero, zilch to put the defence in doubt or set up the outside backs or even give them the time and space to create a damn thing ... it is absolutely astonishingly frustrating to be tortured to this incompetence week after week, week in week out .... heartbreaking , especially as it’s NRL first grade and they should be far above Thai standard

I think Brooks had a good game tonight, BUT if you ever think he is going to have the smarts to control the game at the pointy end for a win then you haven't watched many games. Brooks just doesnt have the smarts or intelligence under pressure and has proved it more times then i care to remember. We need a super sub when these situations arrive , take brooks off and have an experienced closer. Just makes me wonder how many more games we would have won

How much of that comes back to wingers that would rather go the hero play and attempt an intercept than actually work hard and defend their line.

Sabre when Madge doesn't bring the butterfly catchers game day .....

I just can't believe we got caught out on a short blind against 12 ......I'm still shaking my head now ....
