Starts with the half’s combination nil game management? Have to ? Coach selections.
We need Benji to come out and state he is retiring as I see him as a ball hog that does little and his defence is terrible.
If Benji does big come out club should state we are not renewing your contract in the media

So are you saying all our woes are Benji fault

We aren't that bad. I think our forwards are building nicely. Our halves are terrible. They've just lost it this year. The goalkicking is a massive problem.

So you think our defence is going well

Beginning to think detriment to brooks.
His defence is non existent and targeted each week by opposition players.
Mybe/Packer/Reynolds not much chop either and we have paid overs for quite a few non performing players.
CEO salary cap issues last years.
We just need him to come out and state will retire, sooner than later.

You've summed it up perfectly. But Madge still thinks we're a top 8 side? Do you think he knows the truth now?

He’s always known that’s not the case but what else can he say.

We’re a bottom 6 roster that always performs slightly about expectations, just enough to give us a sliver of hope year after year.

Forget about culture problems etc. it all comes down to quality players. At the moment our roster is a debacle. With some shrewd recruiting and a fair bit of luck, there’s no reason we can’t turn it completely around within 2-3 years.

Raiders, Panthers, Eels were all a basket case not that long ago.

Its a problem with Simpkin - now that Liddle is fit and killing it do you tell Grant his services are no longer needed if he is going back to Melbourne. Cruels his chance in Dally M and SOO but we get to blood Simpkin and see if he has got it at NRL. And if we do start giving Simpkin a run he will still only be 19 at the start of next year and will be a backup at best.

If Grant is fit he’s straight back in.

Normally I have a long rant post loss...

But I have nothing. We have tried all approaches and none have worked. Our goal line D is appalling. One set and we crack. Madge has talked about resolve and character, but there is absolutely no proof of that.

Benji has had 20 good mins in two months, but the club will probably trot him out for positive PR all week.

AD and Liddle tons of heart, but the senior players are serial non winners. Roosters had half a team out today.

When it gets tough, or a game is needed...we just are rarely ever in the battle mentally.

How do we change the culture?

Its time for us to wake up.....rid the club of all the older players and start a clean slate with some of the younger players at the club- (they can't do any worse than this lot)- perhaps try and get some up and comers from other clubs.
But I can see that not many would wish to come here,I can now see why Matterson, Moses & co moved on if we are not careful they will all want to move on and we will end up without a club.
Oh dear we are such a difficult club to stay positive with- I can't believe how this year (in more ways than one) has turned out, I thought we didn't start off too badly, our defence was pretty good, and on the whole we do some good things but obviously not enough to win games.😕

Matterson and Moses don’t get passes for their actions. They are human garbage.

You don’t see Taumololo or Josh Jackson etc. tucking their tails and running when the going gets tough.

Brooks 50/50 call he was playing better a few seasons ago when Benji wasn’t there.
Go watch the 1st half again and you might see what u mean relating to Benji watch his overall play, mybe wasn’t much better rushing out of the line and creating gaps, cheers.

Ok Benji should retire but to many people on the forum are putting a lot of the clubs woes on him .over last couple of years it’s Marshall and Farha’s fault the club is going so bad when in reality it starts at the top

Coach needs to meet with board on Monday and give Benji the tap.

I tend to think the Board may be over calling Madge in this one.

Madge has a history of making a tough call.
Merritt highest try scorer for Souths, dropped the following week, never to see first grade again.
Crocker named outright captain. dropped after 6 rounds never to see first grade again.

At our club.
Farah, (broken) literally by a bone. Named on our Bench for our sudden death game of the year.

Marshall dropped for 3 weeks. Media did not shut up about it.

Brooks dropped to bench, media could not shut up about it.
Week later CEO comes out and says to all clubs, hands off his not available. Totally messes with a potential option of moving on a higher paid player.
2 weeks later his starting.

Lawrence. Was on the point of not being offered a decent contract with us, Madge lowballed him but he signed on. Media would not shut up about it.

Whose calling the shots here?

You blokes have got to stop playing the blame game, what you should be looking at is our team compared to say the Melb Cup....

You have quality class runners worth millions bred for the track, trained to the minute to be competative in a world class race....
then enter the WTS runner the Clydesdale that pulls the milk cart ...he will go all day but hasnt got what it takes to win the race....irrespective of who trains him....

Mate agree the fish tots from the head but surely Marshall should come out and state retiring.
He certainly isn’t the single cause in reality Madge was also out coached by Robinson last night. Just need to move on dead wood and create some cao space to retain good players rather than have then go elsewhere.
Positives last night AD went well but still think a 5/8 or centre long term.

Disappointed in Talau's pace on the intercept. Against Souths?, he showed good toe in nearly running down one of their blokes on a runaway try. Maybe injured at the moment or bothered by his dodgy hammy which is understandable. Would be giving him a crack at 5/8 this week to see how he goes.

Maybe he is going to announce his retirement but just maybe he didn’t want to take away from Lawrence time in the limelight. On AD he is showing a fair bit at fullback I know his speed doesn’t look good at the moment but he is playing injured, but if you want to move him I think 5/8

Ive said it before and i'll say it again (broken record) The club doesn't stand for anything! We are Rugby Leagues nomads and until we change that we will keep getting the same culture over and over and over......

I just see that as another excuse for players not performing well enough. You can can blame culture, accepting mediocrity etc but the roster is not good enough to compete consistently against better ones - and there are arguably at least eight of those.
No team with Packer, Reynolds, Mybe - and have to add Brooks in his current form - as their biggest money earners could considered top eight standard in 2020.
Under the same home ground circumstances in 2005/10/11 We had a team of players that competed and achieved a level of success - then we we entered the aftermath of salary cap stuff up orchestrated by Humphries/Sheens, board division, and series of unfortunate events all too well discussed over and over again.
We are now financially sound, we havnt had any stability since Sheens to build a decent roster and Cleary left us with another road block to overcome hence our current predicament - that's how I see it.

Its not an excuse at all. This club needed (and i believe Madge knows it and is trying to achieve it) gutting. The teams you speak of had some great juniors come through and for some reason those junior systems were allowed to fade away which in the end has resulted in mediocre signings and a constant desire to change the coach when things haven't gone well. Its taken until the last 18 months for recognition that our junior system had gone to poo and Madge and Hartigan are setting about changing it, hence the reason for constant signings of highly thought of young recruits. We have a junior system as alluded to by another forum member that is the 3rd biggest in NSW, yet so many of those kids go elsewhere. They don't want to play for Wests Tigers. Now why would that be? Maybe it is because the club is owned by Ashfield which i have no issue with, is based at Concord, plays some games at Leichhardt, some at Campbelltown and some in Parramatta.
If you're a young kid coming through in say Parra or Penrith juniors, then what is the attraction to leave those clubs and play for Wests Tigers? It could only be opportunity or money, because there is absolutely nothing in our recent history with our reputation as a perennial basket case that is attractive. So ive asked the question, what do we as a club stand for? If i'm a 20 year old kid the answer to that is not about a club steeped in the tradition and culture of two once proud clubs standing together, because at 20, i couldn't give a flying you know what about Wests or Balmain and ive only ever known Wests Tigers and let me tell you, that tradition, history and culture doesn't look so good.
