Where do You have the Wests Tigers Finishing in 2017?

Our squad is much stronger than it was round one last year, no question. Guys like Buchanan and Milone are gone. In their place, ET, Idris and Suli. I doubt we'll see much of Lovett after his off season escapades. Besides Rankin, I don't think there are any excuses for this team not building on last years progress and finishing 8th or higher.

What about Simona?

2017 vs 2016
Idris vs Simona
Suli vs Rankin
Liddle vs Farah
Taylor vs Sironen
Felise vs Lovett
Ballin vs Halatau

I think it's fair to say that despite our limited signings, our top 17 this year is an improvement on last year. However, in my opinion there are too many other NRL clubs that have better squads, so I just can't see us making the top 8.

Good comparison SteveO. The changes in our squad roughly even themselves out. The bulk of the rest of our are younger than the peak age of an NRL player. However the competition be just as tough ,if not harder.

My 2017 top 8:

1\. Cowboys
2\. Raiders
3\. Melbourne
4\. Panthers
5\. Roosters
6\. Warriors
7\. Cronulla
8\. TIGERS

Interesting to read that Sterlo thinks these two teams won't make the top 8 this year;

Sterlo can't see Dogs or Broncos in eight

League expert Peter Sterling has made some bold predictions for 2017.

Rugby league legend Peter Sterling believes NRL heavyweights Brisbane and Canterbury will miss the finals together for just the second time in 25 years. Usually two of the most consistently performing teams, only the 1991 and 2010 playoffs have been devoid of both clubs since Brisbane's introduction into the competition in 1988\. But Sterling hasn't been won over by how either squad is shaping up heading into the 2017 season.

The Broncos have been dealt with one of the toughest starts to the season, facing each of last year's top four in the opening month. "I think they'll be giving a head start," Sterling told Triple M. "I don't think they'll make the eight this year." With a number of departures over the off-season, Sterling believes the only way they will fire is if halves Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt are at their absolute best.

"I think that Corey Parker will be a big loss," Sterling said. "That will see them rely on a lot of young forwards coming through - Pangai Junior, Jai Arrow - these kinds of players like Herman Ese'ese."

Conversely, the Bulldogs haven't missed the finals since Des Hasler arrived at the club in 2012, but Sterling is becoming weary of a stale attack. Canterbury were knocked out by Penrith in the opening week of last year's finals series when they finished the season with four losses. "I don't think they'll be playing finals football for the first time under Des Hasler," Sterling said.

"I just think their style of play hasn't improved in the last couple of years well enough to stay with some of the sides that have improved their style of play. "I still think there's a question mark in the combination between (Moses) Mbye and Josh Reynolds in the halves."

Meanwhile, Sterling labelled Penrith as his favourites for the minor premiership while suggesting last year's champions, Cronulla, could be left fighting for a spot at the bottom of the eight.

Sterlo is usually a very good judge but last year he had the storm missing the 8 and we all know how that finished.

i have us coming 6th/7th. first time since 2012 ive tipped us to make the 8\. i have a very positive feeling about this year.

**realistically 14th**

Why is going from 9th to 14th realistic?

Because I sat through the Canberra Raiders game at Bruce stadium last year. I don't see any drastic changes either. In terms of results the tigers have been statistically the worst performing team of the past 10-15 years.

Really? Is that an accurate statement? Not being critical but it sounds likes a made up stat and 67.62% of stats are fabricated.

Yep, and Cronulla were the worst team at winning grand finals for the last 50 years

Should have went to the Cowboys game at Leichhardt…Undefeated Minor Premiers and eventual Premiers 27 games straight..2017...

don't get to excited yet, under Potter we always started the season off good too with usually 2 or 3 wins in March then we go downhill, if we are in the 8 In June then I will start thinking we are a massive chance at finals footy.

we have a very hard start to the year too for the next few weeks. that's not our problem though we usually beat grand final teams, it's losing to garbage teams like the Knaughts and the dragons that we have problems with, usually we have to lock in the roosters as a auto loss each year.

we have to beat the crap teams to make the 8\. plain and simple, and this club has only really done that 3 times in 17 years.

I did the NRL Predictor and we finished in the Top 8… First Weeks Final Game against Brisbane at Suncorp.

We will smash them up there!!!

Some teams will improve yet the more fancied may go down, look at Saints and Penrith, how close did Knights go first round, anything can happen and if we produce as good as first round and remain consistent, then top 6/8 is very doable…l
