Where do You have the Wests Tigers Finishing in 2017?

Dunno why people have low expectations.

Gotta remember in 16 we had 3 games we should have won also which will hopefully be tidied up this year

Melbourne in golden point where Moses missed an absolute sitter about 15 metres in front

Newcastle up in Newcastle (2nd ball on the field, cost us a try)

Gold Coast at Campbelltown. We were winning that game right up until the last 2 minutes.

Add on those 6 points and we are well into the top 6 and I can only see improvement from this year onwards?

Eddie great first post. Spot on with outlook and reasons - except I think we will finish lower than 10th.

Liddle may be the catalyst to set this team into an unprecedented era. I look forward to his emergence.

My usual cycle as a Wests supporter.

Pre round 1…quietly confident. Top four is a cert...the year is different because of ( insert player/coach here)
\
\
By round 6...it's ok, we are 1/5 but it's good experience for this young team. The runs coming

Round 15...start doing maths, looking at other teams run home and convince myself the 8's possible
\
\
Round 21..same as round 15 but the math is now to work out how to avoid the spoon

First round of the finals, look at the photos the club posts of the boys in Bali and look forward to cricket starting.

That being said, its round 1 so I predict wests taking the minor premiership on the way to a GF victory over easts in a brutal but ulitimately one sided affair as wests run in 7 try's to one

Heart says 7th or 8th, head is saying 9th or 10th.

I'm thinking a lot depends on Brooks, will that kid who smacked St George on his debut return? Also it'll depend on how Jamal goes and if we can replace Rankin (unless for some bizarre reason Rankin kills it).

When he smacked st George he was allowed to play his own game and Moses wasn't in the team.
That's no longer the situation.

Our defence isn't nearly good enough. We struggle in general yardage - both for and against. Still don't know how to slow down the PTB. Anecdotally, we'd be towards the bottom of the league in terms of attacking and defending kicks.

We'd need to improve on all of these (and more) - that's a coaching issue for the most part.

So potentially, top 4-6\. There's a lot of talent in the squad, just needs to be harnessed.
Realistically, I have us about 12th.

Hi Guys - long time lurker here and decided to join this season. I reckon this year we should make the 8 but only just. I think our attack should be great but we have too many defensive problems especially with Simona gone.

Anyway - go tigers.

Every year in summary. I so want to like this post. Mods make it happen :roll

Alongside Manly but above St George. The only genuine star in the joint is Tedesco so it will come down to the level of development and improvement in Woods, Ava, Grant, Sue, Felise (young but promising), Brooks and Moses to determine just how far we will go. I have no idea but I am hoping and p(r)aying as a member yet again.

Welcome Earl.
Look forward to hearing your contribution to the forum.

I agree that we are capable of making the 8 if we're lucky with injuries, but!! and there's always a but, it all depends on improvement in our defence and I'm not all that confident that we can improve enough to get there.
So I'm predicting 10th

Just used the nrl ladderr predictor and tried to be as unbias as possible. Have us finishing =7 with the sharks, just ahead of the eels outside the 8.

Interesting to read that Sterlo thinks these two teams won't make the top 8 this year;

Sterlo can't see Dogs or Broncos in eight

League expert Peter Sterling has made some bold predictions for 2017.

Rugby league legend Peter Sterling believes NRL heavyweights Brisbane and Canterbury will miss the finals together for just the second time in 25 years. Usually two of the most consistently performing teams, only the 1991 and 2010 playoffs have been devoid of both clubs since Brisbane's introduction into the competition in 1988\. But Sterling hasn't been won over by how either squad is shaping up heading into the 2017 season.

The Broncos have been dealt with one of the toughest starts to the season, facing each of last year's top four in the opening month. "I think they'll be giving a head start," Sterling told Triple M. "I don't think they'll make the eight this year." With a number of departures over the off-season, Sterling believes the only way they will fire is if halves Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt are at their absolute best.

"I think that Corey Parker will be a big loss," Sterling said. "That will see them rely on a lot of young forwards coming through - Pangai Junior, Jai Arrow - these kinds of players like Herman Ese'ese."

Conversely, the Bulldogs haven't missed the finals since Des Hasler arrived at the club in 2012, but Sterling is becoming weary of a stale attack. Canterbury were knocked out by Penrith in the opening week of last year's finals series when they finished the season with four losses. "I don't think they'll be playing finals football for the first time under Des Hasler," Sterling said.

"I just think their style of play hasn't improved in the last couple of years well enough to stay with some of the sides that have improved their style of play. "I still think there's a question mark in the combination between (Moses) Mbye and Josh Reynolds in the halves."

Meanwhile, Sterling labelled Penrith as his favourites for the minor premiership while suggesting last year's champions, Cronulla, could be left fighting for a spot at the bottom of the eight.

I agree with Sterlo but I think they will be fighting their way to make the eight (much like tigers in 2016) and eventually miss out to clubs like us, Parra, rabbits, warriors, chooks, manly

Our squad is much stronger than it was round one last year, no question. Guys like Buchanan and Milone are gone. In their place, ET, Idris and Suli. I doubt we'll see much of Lovett after his off season escapades. Besides Rankin, I don't think there are any excuses for this team not building on last years progress and finishing 8th or higher.
