I'm just curious to hear your guys thoughts on where you see Rugby League will be in the next 20-30 years.

It will be dead. The NRL is badly managed and losing ground to other sports (particularly AFL). Crowds are in decline, from what I have seen younger people don't generally have the same passion for a particular team.

It will slowly decline. 20-30 years may be too early for it to be completely dead, but think it will be in a similar position to union at the moment.

I see people complaining about the same stuff as they have the last 20-30 years.

If you think anything really changes in terms of fans complaining about rugby league, read some old old newspapers or RLW and adjust your thinking.

I see it being much more of a TV/media product…local grounds will be well and truly history...I see promo & relegation.

Jirskyr...we complained about scrum penalties in front of the sticks 30 years ago...today we will complain about vid ref...30 years from now we'll be biching about the hologram virtual reality adjudicator introduced due to junior voluntary refs becoming exctinct

Dunno, don't care.
Game is a joke.
Run by idiots who continually make poor choices in an attempt to make it fail.

I see the clubs owning the game

I see the game being run in line with American sport

I see people like Gould and Greenburg being the reason the game changes and moved away from the corruption that exists now.

It is most definately run by imbeciles, Greenberg needs to be thrown out by the throat ASAP.

The way the NRL is headed it wouldnt surprise to see Bellamy, Cammy and Ivan running the Integrity Unit before long.

I'd like to see multiple countries fielding sides in the NRL

Obviously Tonga ,Samoa and PNG for starters (maybe Fiji )

2nd team in Brisbane

Move 2-3 teams from Sydney to Adelaide ,Perth even Darwin

We are capable up driving Rugby Union to the wall in Australia if we made the right decisions

I doubt I'll see it because the nuffies at the NRL don't have a clue

Moving 2-3 Sydney teams to other states would only alienate their existing support base.Football clubs are not items to be moved around the country for most supporters it is part of rheir DNA.
I am all in favour of expanding the competition so then you could move to a conference system(like the NFL).

I think it will get bigger. By all accounts despite the incompetence of the games leadership the game is still growing.

It won't continue to get bigger without expansion though, and that needs to be carefully executed. I'd even cop engineering by the games hierarchy to ensure these teams are winners to start so that support will be there in the fledgling years.

Wouldn't put engineering past em.
It's not like the games gunna get any leveller…. It will get more lopsided if anything

i feel that it will stay the same, with no progress made..

playing games in america, wont benefit the game

I can see it getting bigger BUT i don't think it will be worldwide with 100 million fans. I did hear that 2 more QLD teams are going to come into the NRL soon but we need more teams from WA, Vic, etc. I do agree that some overseas teams should join otherwise it will most likely stay the same

THAT will be interesting.

I wonder if the Roosters will hire a team of expert programmers to try and hack the HVRA to their advantage - everyone knows they do it. And someone at FoxSports will claim to have found evidence for #penaltybroncos written into the HVRA's source code.

And absolutely, certainly, when they do have fully impartial and completely accurate non-human refs one day, people will complain that it doesn't have the natural flow and unpredictability of the old human-based reffing system.

If we can add maybe another Victorian team, 2 Tasmanian teams, 2 South Australian teams, 2 Western Australia teams, and maybe a Northern territory team while cutting back on a few Sydney teams, maybe keep 3\. Souths, Tigers, and the Roosters, perhaps as we've been in the competition the longest out of the Sydney teams not counting Western Suburbs and Balmain merging in 2000.
