Wally Lewis didn't know what Club football was all he cared about was QLD, he got a few spoons with the gold coast and only ever played in 1 semi final, completely overrated as a player, achieved nothing at club level

Robbie is owed his contract. It's back ended because the club asked for those terms.
The management of the situation by Taylor is a disgrace.
Can you imagine clubs like Brisbane or Canterbury treating a club legend like this making him play out his last few games in reserve grade?
Further when those clubs decide to move players on it's done quietly and with respect.
Yes I can imagine Brisbane and Canterbury doing this. Remember Wally Lewis being moved on by Wayne Bennett?
Was Wally Lewis dropped to Queensland cup or whatever was reserves for Broncos at the time?

First they took the captaincy off Wally and gave it to his best mate Gene Miles. Then they moved him from five eighth to lock, and finally left him on the bench for their semi final win against Manly. He was eventually let go at the end of the season when his contract expired as Bennett wanted to keep younger talent
My point is though that Robbie Farah isn't the first and won't be the last "club legend" to be treated in this manner

Lewis, Jennings and Gordon's contracts hadn't expired though.

In all of these instances the situation was handled a lot lot better than what we've seen.

It was. None of those players dragged their club through the media.
I remember the night the statement was released, and there was a backlash instantly. Why was the club not entitled to give him permission to look elsewhere just like Penrith did with those 3 players. Because working out the difference in both original intentions gives me a headache.

Funny - Chris Lawrence was told the exact same thing at the exact same time - I also believe Galloway was told something similar at a similar time.
The difference between how the other 2 played out to RF's is amazing…
@iofthetigers said:Gordon had signed with Cronulla & Penrith denied him a mid season release. We can agree to disagree, but I wonder how Teddy would see this considering the Tigers have a long term deal for him on the table.

I think you'll find it was the Sharks who denied him a mid season release to Parramatta.
