Where does Jason Taylor go with our great hooker policy now?!

The coach picks the team, 3 in a row suggests he knows what he is doing

I give him credit for how we came out and played today, but to give him credit for the hooker rotation, you are kidding.
You do not play a secondrower at hooker, then replace him by moving your winger to hooker, secondrower to centre and centre to wing.
No one in their right mind can think that goes with his whole cohesive argument.

Taylor has said there are too many playmakers in the side and he probably sees hooker as the position where there are plenty of available players in the NRL that can do a job for the team without needing them to be a superstar.

If we have our 1, 6, 7 & 9 all on big money, you can't recruit enough quality over the park.

Melbourne have always had a capable and consistent first grader at 6 on a low-mid range salary to support Cronk, Slater and Smith.

Rankin and Halatau went well today and they even made some yards around the ruck. It's a simple plan - tackled player gets a quick play the ball, another forward winds up and the dummy half passes to players in motion - seems to be getting us over the advantage line.

proof is in the pudding 851…. you can argue hypotheticals to your hearts content, but the undeniable facts are that Taylors decisions have us winning.

Rankin did a good job at dummy half again this evening, so Taylor's "policy" seems to be working.

Rankin was great. We would have been better with Robbie but I can understand the idea when it comes down to money.

Farah knows we need money to secure the future of players like ET at the club AND HE DOESNT GIVE A DAMN !!!

Robbie is owed his contract. It's back ended because the club asked for those terms.

The management of the situation by Taylor is a disgrace.

Can you imagine clubs like Brisbane or Canterbury treating a club legend like this making him play out his last few games in reserve grade?

Further when those clubs decide to move players on it's done quietly and with respect.

many other clubs have done it before

sowie and ET were both in reserve grade this year. sandows been there on 550k, as has TRex. swanies did it to someone (can remember the name) after hed played about 270 games for them - never played one for them again

Does it cross your mind we would be doing it easier with a hooker in the 17, and we are winning despite these tactics instead of because of these tactics.
Tell me another coach in the history of the game to use such a dumb tactic, you cant talk cohesion on one hand and then move 3 players out of position to rest your make shift hooker.

Of course you can if the cohesion is the team playing for each other, knowing their roles, knowing the plan and playing to the plan. ET left the field, the rest of the team knew what to do and did it. Like the man said, the proof is in the pudding

You surely can't think moving 3 players out of position is good for cohesion, are you all related to the coach. :brick:
Yes we we won, but it would be more beneficial for the team if one player went off and was replaced by another in the same position, it is not rocket science, geez.
If Ricky Stuart was moving Rapana to hooker, Papali to centre and Croker to wing to give Hodgson a rest you would all be laughing your head off.

farah being moved out led to which three players moved out of position?

ET was injured, that wasnt exactly part of the script - has nothing to do with JT or farah.

halatau has been playing better at hooker than 2nd row in any case, so hardly 'out of position' for him either - i'd say its his best position

in any case, i STRONGLY suspect the move was not made because farah is a bad hooker - but perhaps more for off field issues. this is the 3rd coach (and 3rd consecutive year too) some farah-gate has destablised the club

I thought Rankin was great when he went to dummy half today…made some good metres out of there..

He still defends on the wing..with Edwards in the middle..

Yes, id be laughing my head off. But if they were winning doing it, i wouldnt be laughing for long, just admiring the coach who had the balls to do it. Whichever way you look at it, the coach must get the team to win. I dont care if he makes them play with their undies on backwards, if they win, its the right decision.

Have you EVER enjoyed a win 851? Which team do you really go for? It isnt WT, clearly.

Rankin has played a lot of hooker before, as well as in the halves. ….he usually isnt a winger, yet 815 is making this out as if its some ridiculous move....
Im no sure if Rapana has played hooker or the halves before like Rankin has.
Give it a rest 851 and put some of that cream on it...you;'ll feel better

I have supported wests and weststigers for over 45 years so don't tell me I don't support my team, I have supported this club longer than most of you have been alive.

As much as I dislike the whole soap opera revolving around the coach and the Hooker, how many watched the game from yesterday in the Intrust Super Cup where the hooker just went through the motions.
I don't agree with the stance the coach has taken but look at the current results, you can't take your position for granted as there are now plenty of players gunning for positions.
Time will tell who is right or wrong but at this stage we are looking very competitive….........

I am not saying put Farah in if the coach dont want him, but pick another hooker so there are not 3 positional changes for Dene to have a rest.

Even the commentators found it amusing, and one of them i think peter sterling said he'd never ever seen a winger go to dummy half. Halatau looked good, rankin looked good aswell. Unfortantly i dont think JLJ is first grade material. So get rankin at halfback, JAC and for the love of god put cherrington on the bench. Why make life so hard by reshuffling half your team around so your dummy half gets a 20 minute break. I will take a win no mAtter how they come, go the mighty tigers.
