Which players do you expect to stand up in 2014

Paul Gavet

James Gavet, but I expect him to also do well under Kidwell. I have said it before, but I expect Sauce to be slowly pushed to the outer next season. If they can train the silly step at the line out of Kapow, and get Gavet to fire, Big Red wont have the punch to keep up.

Kurtis Rowe! Watch out Teddy cos he will be gunning for your position!
That kid has motivation like no other and if he wants the FG Fullback position he will do whatever it takes to make sure it happens!!

Rowe couldn't even hold onto the third grade (under 20's) fullback position for parts of this year and has only been playing against people his own age while Tedesco has played 20 NRL games and by the way he could still be playing under 20's.
Noffa, Sirro and Teddy are a class above the other 20 year olds at the club that's why they are in 1st grade and not 3rd grade.

As far as stepping up next year I think Tapau will do really well, I have always been impressed with the way he plays and also Blake Austin will have a big opportunity to do well in the 5/8 position.

I did not say he would get the FB position straight away, I said he would be gunning for it, and knowing this kid personally he will do whatever it takes to get it no matter how long it takes!

How much of Rowe have you actually seen? Did you see him play NSW Cup last year? He played well and was scoring try's just like he does in NYC and that was 12 months ago! Potter has also been working with him 1 on 1 for the 2nd half of the season and Rowe has been sensational!

But then again I do have to remember that Rowe isn't a 'local' boy like Teddy so of course he wouldn't be in favor over Teddy with the Tiger diehards now would he?!!! But that's just an outsiders observation!

I watched him today and he was anything but sensational..just can't make up my mind who he reminds me of, sometimes he looks like Moltzen when he runs away from a bomb and sometimes he reminds me of Mullaney when he throws his hand out and says touched just before a player scores.

Every single one of them today, other than Santi, were anything but sensational!

That strikes me as very strange. Was Potter working 1 on 1 with Tedesco as well ?
No wonder we finished second last Potter was training the wrong team.

The jury is still out on Mick Potter I think he is the one that needs to stand up next year.

I think we'll see Teddy improve, along with BMM, Sue, Sirro, Nofo and Koro. I'm hopeful Mr T will continue to improve as he has some serious physical presence and could surprise. I think Lulia and Taupau will also be good value. Not sure about Patterson, I think he could do with another 4-5kg on his body given how tall he is.

Sorry if it strikes you as very strange but I do know the kid personally and if its confirmation you're after you can read the article attached!!

And really what a stupid remark asking if Potter has worked 1 on 1 with Teddy too! Teddy is apart of FG so there's no doubt Potter has provided the same, if not more, specialist advice to Teddy as he has with Rowe!

And what is wrong with Rowe taking some initiative and asking a coach who actually knows what their talking about when it comes to playing Fullback for help?
No there's nothing wrong with it and if you think this was a factor in FG finishing 2nd last then that's just laughably clutching at straws!!

I just hope whoever we pick at 6 and 7 fire up , with the quality up and coming backs we will put pressure on other sides offensively

Of the outside backs Lawrence is the big one , if he can find the old Lawrence he will make Simona a big weapon as they will create headaches out wide on either side

Forwards wise our back row If it was up to me , our back row would be Blair at 13 and Fulton and BMM / Sue as back rowers with Sirro off the bench

We should look at trying to hold our own in the forwards and hoping our backs can dominate

If our forwards can't do that we will be in for a long ,long season again

Cory Patterson is someone I'm excited to see. At this point it's highly unknown what he'll bring to the table. I see him as being quite similar to Dwyer, big with good footwork and able to hit a gap. It'll be nice having some decent size in the backrow next year.

Patterson and Dwyer are personally at different ends of the spectrum

Dwyer was just power from head to toe with heaps of speed for a back rower

Patterson is a more tall gangly type and doesn't have much speed Patterson can be effective yes , but nothing like Dwyer was

Gee I miss Simon 😢

Can Rowe play any other position apart from full back. ?

Saw the games Rowe played for NSW Cup and he was ok, nothing spectacular, looked a bit overwhelmed in most levels but his support play was still good

tell me about it… :frowning:

keep hoping he'll make some miracle comeback.

I hope Galloway stays fit for at least the first half of the season, I hope the same for Lawrence. I don't see Brooks playing first grade all year (Cause I don't think his body will handle a full year in first grade)

I would like to be pleasantly surprised by 2 new chums. Austin & Taupau.

I also think that Richards will be solid. Like it or not we don't have a lot of fear factor either from our forwards or from the Benji factor. In form or not he used to worry opposition coaches.

I hope people will lay off Brooks a little. Yeah the kid is gonna be good, but the last thing he needs is people putting unnecessary labels on him. He's not gonna be the player he was against Saints every week, he's going to have his ups and downs. Hope people realize that.

Agreed. I can see it now. The first bad game he says, people on here will be saying "this kid just isn't up to first grade", "send him back to the 20s" etc.

Hopfully the whole team fires up and we start being a force agian starting with a massive year next year.

Top 10 everyone, that should be the aim. I can't have expectations of going from 15th to top 4 or 6 in a year. Top 8 would be great!
