Which team will get the 18th Franchise

The 6pm Friday game is a blight on the NRL . But a must because of the tv rights . You chuck in the game in whatever time slot in Perth and happy days .
Even the 6pm Sunday game is fine to go at 9pm .
It’s a way better option than some pie in the sky PNG team . Literally it would be like what happened with Walsh and the warriors . Young gun player goes to PNG for exposure , gets exposure , then leaves . I can’t even see Cairns/ Darwin being an attractive place to go . I’ve lived in Darwin , and the best thing about that place is the airport . Beautiful to look at , not much else .

Re the PNG thing, I guess the idea would be to have their training base in Cairns and fly in and out of Port Moresby on game day. That way they have more chance of attracting some NRL players to live in Cairns rather than Port Moresby.

I did know plenty of pilots employed by Air New Guinea who were based in Cairns and would passenger over to Port Moresby when on duty.

Personally I just don’t know where the talent pool is going to come from to service any more teams. It will also have a massive inflationary effect.

Re the talent pool, I genuinely think a team in PNG opens up a whole world of new players in that country, that talent scouts have ignored til now. People forget how big it is.
Double the size of NZ or Queensland
Quadruple the size of WA
100 times the size of Tonga
And the vast majority of those 10 million love their rugby league.

And 9.6 million of them dont live in Port Moresby. I'm told Port Moresby is cut off from the rest of the country.
We're basically trying to make a proffessional club work in a small town that's quite poor.

Your arguments are more logical than mine no doubt. I'm not quite sure when or how I became such a fanatical supporter of expansion to PNG. But I'll keep going anyway.

You’re like the guy at the blackjack table who’s lost 100k , but is adamant 1 more game and he’s back baby !!!
Full credit to you , At least you’re honest about it

I don't thing the scouts have ignored it till now... We've only really had a few players come out of there for a few decades... Not as much as is being made out in the future
A. New team. Isn't going to be wanting to train guys from the ground up.
We've seen the Kumuls for years but very few kick on... If there was so much untapped talent we'd be seeing it on the international stage

Jimmy Ngutlik is going to be the next Billy Slater though.

If Perth does become the next team, majority of their home games will be on the weekend due to time zone difference. The Saturday 5:30-7:30 games will work given kickoff over there will be 3:30 or 5:30. Sunday is the same with the 2:00-4:00 games will be 12:00 or 2:00 over there. Every other day will probably be a struggle. Maybe the Friday 7:30 game will work but then again maybe not.
